Stability Issues with bettingexpert

Growing up in London meant that I had no choice but to follow/watch/live football, but I wouldn't have had it any other way! Now, as English Content Manager at bettingexpert, I get...

Dear bettingexpert users,

As you may have noticed, bettingexpert.com has been quite unstable recently. At bettingexpert we are devoted to delivering a top quality service to our community so in the rare event that it does not live up to our high standards we think it's best to let you know exactly why.

What is the problem?

First of all, we have become a victim of our own success and the number of visitors to bettingexpert has increased approximately 300% over the past three years. In addition to this, the original code operating the site was written way back in 2004 and was not initially designed to cope with such high traffic. Unfortunately, the result of these two factors is an unstable bettingexpert service.

We anticipated these instability issues a while back and began a complete recoding of the site in January 2013. We were hoping to relaunch the site before the instability became a real issue, however the situation has escalated faster than expected.

What does this mean to you?

To relieve the pressure on our servers and increase stability in the short term we have temporarily deactivated the following features:

  • Statistics in the betting tips section,
  • Live scores in clash,
  • Tips navigation in the sidebar.

When will it be fixed?

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, however, bettingexpert and all it's great features will be back and better than ever before (and mobile friendly!) after the recoding has been perfected and the site is relaunched in August 2013!

Kind Regards,

Neal, bettingexpert

No don't worry iniestaone. bettingexpert will always be online. What it means is that in August 2013 it will be an improved version that all visitors will be able to make use of. Until then please bear with us as we focus on implementing the improvements that have been planned. It is only the above mentioned features that will be deactivated for some time.

Wait does this mean the site is closing down until August 2013?

Thanks you guys for your quick responds. I hope the best for BE [image]

@likeyoulikeyou We actually had a forum a couple of years ago. We had several issues with it in terms of (1) low usage, (2) spam, (3) redundant content in terms of tips. So we decided to close it. We are, however, working on new forms of interaction that are slightly more structured than a regular forum.
Best,
Thomas

@likeyoulikeyou at the current time, it is not possible for us to disable this functionality due to issues regarding the server and code. We are however working on a solution of the problem and thank you for your concern.

And in the future, it would be great if BE can open a forum so the tipsters can share their betting experience and talk about something else in life so they can know each other better [image]

Well done. To increase security level, you should turn off "debug mode", too. That means when server is down, the end-user can see a debug report page with a lot of SQL queries and system information. This is pretty dangerous if user is a hacker.[image]
