The race for the fourth place in the Premiership could be decided on Sunday when these two teams met at the City Stadium. City are currently fourth in the league with one game and one point in front of Liverpool. The guest from Merseyside knows that a win here will seal great hopes in getting that Champions League spot for next year’s campaign.
Manchester City have been disappointing in their latest run in the Premiership. After their defeat to Manchester United in the Carling Cup, City hasn’t found their good form under Mancini in the February month. They lost to Hull City away, beat Bolton 2-0 home and drew 1-1 against Stoke City in the midweek. Adebayor and Gareth Barry are the only players that are playing to their level while others have disappointed. Mancini will have to get his team up a gear as the fourth place in on stake this Sunday late afternoon kickoff.
Liverpool went on a nine undefeated game run before getting beaten 1-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates two midweek ago. Their defeat was followed up with a win 1-0 against Unirea Urziceni in the midweek Europa League. This has given Liverpool a boost and confidence is high amongst the team as they travel to Manchester on Sunday. Manager Rafa Benitez will be without Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres as they are still a bit away from fitness. Glen Johnson is still injured while Kyrgiakos will continue his three match suspension.
Liverpool are missing the clincher finishing in front of goal and playing in a high tempo affair. This will surely be in the mix when Manchester City turn up this weekend. The sky blues are an offensive team and Liverpool will have to stop this attacking force with countering them at the break. Last time these two teams met, it ended in a goal galore, 2 goals each and surely that could be a repeat this Sunday.

Wayne Rooney is headlining newspapers this week for all the right reason as he sets to return this weekend to his birth place and where he learnt his football. Everton will be hosting Manchester United on Saturday noon kickoff at Goodison Park. Both teams will battle it out for the three points and most importantly the bragging rights over Rooney’s club decision.
Everton will be fired up and they will certainly treat this game as a rivalry ever since Wayne Rooney left Everton for Manchester United. Everton are going through a good stint as they haven’t lost a game ever since the derby defeat to Liverpool two weeks ago. Everton managed to beat Chelsea 2-1 at home and more recently defeating 2-1 against Sporting Lissabon in the midweek Europa league tie. Sylain Distin scored a goal but ended up getting a straight red card, however, he will be eligible to play against Manchester United. Everton will be without Fellaini who is out for the season while John Heitinga and Diniyar Biyaletdinov are set to return.
Manchester United made headlines in the Champions League midweek 3-2 win over AC Milan at the San Siro. Wayne Rooney played a brilliant game which overshadowed David Beckham maiden game against his former club. The win cemented that Manchester United are on the attack and gunning for the double this season with the Carling Cup Final insight for the treble later this month. Their trip to Liverpool will see Alex Ferguson without Giggs and captain Rio Ferdinand. Nemanja Vidic did not travel to Milan but remains doubtful against Everton this Saturday.
When these two teams met, there will lots of tension and many tackles flying left and right. This will eventually end up like a battlefield as Manchester United are desperate to add three points to their account to chase Chelsea at the top. Everton will be looking to give Man U and they will be very confidence coming back to back victories at Goodison Park. Last time these two teams met, it ended in a 1-1 draw and a draw with Betsson will give you odds 3.35.

Both teams were expected to gun for the title this season but as this fixture looms, their chances are also looming away too. Liverpool dropped out of the championship run already before it started while Arsenal’s dream of the Premiership faded last weekend. Both Arsenal and Liverpool is in a need of the three points to salvage whatever there is in their title run.
In a space of a week, Arsenal managed to throw away their title challenge in the hands of Manchester United and Chelsea. Two weekend ago, Arsenal lost 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium to Manchester United and that followed up with a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea last weekend. Manager Arsene Wenger is more than disappointed with his team’s performance and their lacklustre results in the two games. They will now face fourth place, Liverpool, in search to close the gap between them and the top and keeping the third place in the Premiership.
Liverpool will travel to the Emirates in the midweek tie with high confidence and high spirit to London. They have recently beaten their bitter rivals, Everton, with 10 men last Saturday in a hard fought battle at Anfield. Manager Rafa Benitez is happy that his team is showing progress and getting the right result compared to the first half of the Premiership season. He will be without Kyrgiakos as he was sent off against Everton while Fernando Torres is still out injured.
Arsenal can do the double over Liverpool this season but that might not happen if they defend properly. Liverpool have been looking solid for some time and they are deadly on the counter attack so Arsenal should know what to expect. Liverpool are still without a striker that can give them goals but Dirk Kuyt has been providing them the necessity they are longing for. Arsenal have beaten Liverpool twice already this season, 2-1 in the Carling Cup and 2-1 at Anfield. Arsenal are weak favorites but a draw with Betsson will give you odds 3.35.

Both teams are well rested through the worse period of the winter storm in the United Kingdom. Last weekend, Hull vs. Chelsea and Sunderland vs. Bolton were called off due to extreme weather conditions. Lucky for all you football fans, Chelsea and Sunderland fans, it is most unlikely that this game at Stamford Bridge 1500 kickoff BST will be postponed. So get ready for some Premiership football.
Chelsea will play their first game without the likes of Dider Drogba, John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien and Salomon Kalou as they are all on international duty at the African Nations Cup. Manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to make do with the rest of the players in the squad. The Italian did say he vowed not be getting any new players during the January transfer window but still many links players are linked to Chelsea, like Edin Dzeko, Augero and Vincenzo Iaquinta. Joe Cole and Nicklas Anelka are due to extend their contracts with Chelsea.
The last time Sunderland was in action was at the start of the New Year when the FA Cup occurred. Sunderland beat Barrow 3-0 in which Fraizer Campbell scored twice and one from Daryl Murphy. There has been transfer talks surrounding Sunderland but nothing much have materialized therefore Manager Steve Bruce will have to work with what he has got. He could travel to London without Andy Reid, Anton Ferdinard and Craig Gordon, while Michael Turner will compete his four match ban.
Even though Chelsea are without their African players, they still have a very formidable players to go in and take their places. Michael Ballack and Zhirkov will be the ones to watch in the midfield while Anelka will have to do the scoring by myself. Sunderland posies great danger with Darren Bent and Kweyne Jones upfront but can they cut through the Chelsea stubborn defense? Chelsea are favorites.
