Liverpool vs. Blackburn

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

torres blackburn

Liverpool returns to Anfield after disappointingly collecting only a point out of last two away games in the Premiership. Their opponent, Blackburn, are looking to cause a stir when they face the mighty reds at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. This will be a contest that both teams will go all out attack in order to get their hands on the three points.

Liverpool needs to resurrect their season by claiming their stakes on the fourth and last Champions League spot available in the Premiership. Their last two domestic games were a display of strategic and tactical deployed by master tactician himself, Benitez. He saw the return of Torres and Yossi Benayoun in their European Europa League campaign. They also advanced to the last 16 winning their 2nd leg match 3-1 and prized with an encounter with the French opposition, Lille, in two weeks time. Benitez faces defensive problem as Martin Skrtel suffered a broken metatarsal in the midweek and Sotirios Kyrgiakos is still out suspended.

Blackburn will travel to Liverpool with high hopes of getting something out this tie after their 3-0 win home against Bolton last weekend. Manager Sam Allardyce will certainly not tinker with a winning team but unfortunately he will have to replace captain Ryan Nelsen as he is sideline with a knee injury. Chris Samba will return to the starting lineup after serving his suspension against Bolton. There is a chance that Allardyce might give Yildiray Basturk a much awaited debut from the start while David Dunn, Franco Di Santo and Steven Reid all prepared to play a part in the grand scheme. Veteran Michel Salgado could once again deputize at the back for Blackburn.

The odds are stack against Sam Allardyce as he has never won a league game at Anfield in seven attempts. The best he has come up with against Liverpool was back in 2002 with a draw and the rest from there ended in defeats. Blackburn looks to have a mammoth task ahead of that as Liverpool are back into winning ways with Steven Gerrard leading the way. Torres could get a surprise start but the bench could be his best bet. Betsson are offering odds 1.35 for a home win for Liverpool.

Manchester City vs Liverpool

Friday, February 19th, 2010

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Manchester City LiverpoolThe race for the fourth place in the Premiership could be decided on Sunday when these two teams met at the City Stadium. City are currently fourth in the league with one game and one point in front of Liverpool. The guest from Merseyside knows that a win here will seal great hopes in getting that Champions League spot for next year’s campaign.

Manchester City have been disappointing in their latest run in the Premiership. After their defeat to Manchester United in the Carling Cup, City hasn’t found their good form under Mancini in the February month. They lost to Hull City away, beat Bolton 2-0 home and drew 1-1 against Stoke City in the midweek. Adebayor and Gareth Barry are the only players that are playing to their level while others have disappointed. Mancini will have to get his team up a gear as the fourth place in on stake this Sunday late afternoon kickoff.

Liverpool went on a nine undefeated game run before getting beaten 1-0 by Arsenal at the Emirates two midweek ago. Their defeat was followed up with a win 1-0 against Unirea Urziceni in the midweek Europa League. This has given Liverpool a boost and confidence is high amongst the team as they travel to Manchester on Sunday. Manager Rafa Benitez will be without Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres as they are still a bit away from fitness. Glen Johnson is still injured while Kyrgiakos will continue his three match suspension.

Liverpool are missing the clincher finishing in front of goal and playing in a high tempo affair. This will surely be in the mix when Manchester City turn up this weekend. The sky blues are an offensive team and Liverpool will have to stop this attacking force with countering them at the break.  Last time these two teams met, it ended in a goal galore, 2 goals each and surely that could be a repeat this Sunday.

Everton vs. Manchester United

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

everton vs manchester unitedWayne Rooney is headlining newspapers this week for all the right reason as he sets to return this weekend to his birth place and where he learnt his football. Everton will be hosting Manchester United on Saturday noon kickoff at Goodison Park. Both teams will battle it out for the three points and most importantly the bragging rights over Rooney’s club decision.

Everton will be fired up and they will certainly treat this game as a rivalry ever since Wayne Rooney left Everton for Manchester United. Everton are going through a good stint as they haven’t lost a game ever since the derby defeat to Liverpool two weeks ago. Everton managed to beat Chelsea 2-1 at home and more recently defeating 2-1 against Sporting Lissabon in the midweek Europa league tie. Sylain Distin scored a goal but ended up getting a straight red card, however, he will be eligible to play against Manchester United. Everton will be without Fellaini who is out for the season while John Heitinga and Diniyar Biyaletdinov are set to return.

Manchester United made headlines in the Champions League midweek 3-2 win over AC Milan at the San Siro. Wayne Rooney played a brilliant game which overshadowed David Beckham maiden game against his former club. The win cemented that Manchester United are on the attack and gunning for the double this season with the Carling Cup Final insight for the treble later this month. Their trip to Liverpool will see Alex Ferguson without Giggs and captain Rio Ferdinand. Nemanja Vidic did not travel to Milan but remains doubtful against Everton this Saturday.

When these two teams met, there will lots of tension and many tackles flying left and right. This will eventually end up like a battlefield as Manchester United are desperate to add three points to their account to chase Chelsea at the top. Everton will be looking to give Man U and they will be very confidence coming back to back victories at Goodison Park. Last time these two teams met, it ended in a 1-1 draw and a draw with Betsson will give you odds 3.35.

Arsenal vs Liverpool

Monday, February 8th, 2010

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Steven Gerard Fabregas

Both teams were expected to gun for the title this season but as this fixture looms, their chances are also looming away too. Liverpool dropped out of the championship run already before it started while Arsenal’s dream of the Premiership faded last weekend. Both Arsenal and Liverpool is in a need of the three points to salvage whatever there is in their title run.

In a space of a week, Arsenal managed to throw away their title challenge in the hands of Manchester United and Chelsea. Two weekend ago, Arsenal lost 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium to Manchester United and that followed up with a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea last weekend. Manager Arsene Wenger is more than disappointed with his team’s performance and their lacklustre results in the two games. They will now face fourth place, Liverpool, in search to close the gap between them and the top and keeping the third place in the Premiership.

Liverpool will travel to the Emirates in the midweek tie with high confidence and high spirit to London. They have recently beaten their bitter rivals, Everton, with 10 men last Saturday in a hard fought battle at Anfield. Manager Rafa Benitez is happy that his team is showing progress and getting the right result compared to the first half of the Premiership season. He will be without Kyrgiakos as he was sent off against Everton while Fernando Torres is still out injured.

Arsenal can do the double over Liverpool this season but that might not happen if they defend properly. Liverpool have been looking solid for some time and they are deadly on the counter attack so Arsenal should know what to expect. Liverpool are still without a striker that can give them goals but Dirk Kuyt has been providing them the necessity they are longing for. Arsenal have beaten Liverpool twice already this season, 2-1 in the Carling Cup and 2-1 at Anfield. Arsenal are weak favorites but a draw with Betsson will give you odds 3.35.

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Going into the 2nd half of the season, the title race is slowly getting into the climax stages as Chelsea takes on Arsenal on Sunday late afternoon kickoff. Chelsea are currently leading the Premiership with a 2 points gap from Manchester United while their opponent are 6 points away from them. This could be a crucial match as Chelsea could either surrender their lead to others or take out Arsenal out of the race, once and for all.

On the pitch, things did not go Chelsea’s way during the midweek 1-1 draw against Hull City. Drogba, returning from the African Nations of Cup, scored Chelsea’s only goal and rescue the a point at KC Stadium. However, it’s the off the pitch news that has dominated the headlines at Chelsea. Captain John Terry has exposed that he had an affair with a team-mate’s ex-girlfriend. Terry could be on his way to surrender his England captaincy while further allegations of Vanessa Perroncel having affairs with other players on the Chelsea team. Back to football, Chelsea will be without Michael Essien who is long term injuried.

Arsenal will want to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United last weekend at the Emirates Stadium. Their woeful display left Manager Arsene Wenger fuming about his team unable to come with the goods on the day. He expressed, with disaapointment, that his team had a poor performance and maybe the worse this season. He will want a respond from his key members of the team as the travels across London to Stamford bridge in a make it or lost the title game. Arsenal will  have Nicklas Bendter, A. Arshavin and Rosicky to choose from to start on Sunday, giving Wenger a good think about what kind of football he will deploy.

Defensively Arsenal was just poor against Manchester United. If there was a player to blame then Gael Clichy would get some of the rap and let’s face it, he should get dropped too. Chelsea are hit with Terry’s scandal but Manager Carlo Ancelotti will still be behind him and it is likely that the squad will do that too. Last time, these two teams met, Chelsea won at the Emirates with 2-1 and a repeat of this score will certainly put Arsenal out of the title race. Betsson is offering odds at 1.82 for Chelsea to do the double over Arsenal.

Liverpool vs Everton

Liverpool vs Everton

Super weekend in the Premiership and it all starts with a Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield Road in the early noon kickoff. The battle for Merseyside went to the Reds earlier this season when these two teams met at Goodison Park back in November. Therefore, much revenge is on the minds of the Blues half of Liverpool while the Red half will be expecting a win over their bitter rival once again.

Liverpool are getting most of their points at Anfield. Their record speaks for themselves as they are 8 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats in front of their own fans. This could prove that Liverpool are pretty confident at home compared to their away form. The return of Albert Riera and captain Steven Gerrard have been immense for the team. Their width has certainly been busy lately and drawn good reviews of their play. Manager Rafa Benitez believes his team can turn things around and a win against Everton will cement that they will not give up so easily after their poor start of the season. Liverpool will be without Benayoun, El Zahir and Fernando Torres.

Everton have been playing some brilliant football of the late and that could be because of the players returning back from injuries. Some key members of the squad like Cahill and Pienaar are really pulling through for Everton. They were able to get four wins and a draw (against Arsenal away) out of five of their most recent games. That is the sort of form that any Everton fan would be glad to hear going into the Merseyside derby. There is no doubt the blue half of Liverpool are looking forward to take on their rivals at this moment of time.

This game is pretty even by the looks of both teams situation. Liverpool is missing a few key players but managing to get the three points at home while Everton have something to prove with their good form. Anything can happen in the derby and it will be a fierce one as both are in search for points. Liverpool is without Torres and that could spur Everton on to win this match. Liverpool does well against their rivals, beating Manchester United and Everton, even in the midst of their dipping form. Benitez to mastermind the derby, Betsson is offering odds at 1.78 Liverpool to do the double over Everton.

Premier League: Arsenal vs. Manchester United

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Arsenal Manchester United Premier League

A title decider or just another match that will benefit Chelsea to extend their lead at the to of the Premiership. Arsenal missed the chance to back on top of the Premier League after their goalless away draw against Aston Villa during the midweek, while Manchester United made the Carling Cup final after beating their most fierce rivals, Manchester City, 3-2 on the night. Both teams are slowly getting in tune for the final half of the season where the tiel is on stake and this Sunday match between the two giants of the Premiership could find an outcome of who will challenge Chelsea to the title.

Arsenal did not get the most out of their midweek 0-0 draw against Villa at Villa park. They pushed for a winner but that did not happen which left Manager Arsene Wenger wanting for more. He will now have to plot some kind of tactics to knock Manchester United off the championship rail once and for all. The Frenchmen has got Arsenal all fired up when it comes to these kind of games. Arsenal rarely gives much away in these ties and this year could be their time to shine. Wenger will probably have to do without Thomas Vermaelen, A. Diaby, Djourou, Gibbs, Merida and Van Persie. Both Eboue and Alex Song could be available after their national team’s exit of the African Nations Cup. Bendter and Nasri could push for a starting line up as both players came on against Aston Villa in the 2nd half.

Manchester United might have to do without Rio Ferdinand as they travel to North London to battle it out for the Premiership title. Ferdinand is charged with violent conduct for his action in the 4-0 home win against Hull City. This is a major blow for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson will also be without Hargreaves, O’Shea, Vidic while Foster is doubtful. To the good news now, Manchester United beat rivals, Manchester City 3-2 (4-3 on agg.) to make another Carling Cup appearance and that should be a confidence boost for Ferguson’s men. They know how to win even without their key players and they know the Premiership title is on the line this time.

A draw is always the cautious way to approach this game or else the home team is favoured. These two teams met earlier this season and that game went to Manchester United as they beat Arsenal 2-1 on the day. A Diaby own goal settled the difference last time and it is must likely he will not be involved this match to influence the score. If there is one man, Arsenal that will have to take notice then that is Manchester United Wayne Rooney as he is scoring week in and week out. Watch out for those counter attacking moments but if this ends up as a draw then Chelsae will profit from the score.

Premier League: Liverpool vs. Tottenham

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Liverpool will play Tottenham, this Wednesday, in the rearranged postponed game originally set to be played in the second weekend of the New Year. Liverpool poor form continues into the New Year and facing Tottenham is not what they want at this moment, but the show must go on and these three points will be vital for the fight for the Champions League spot next season.

Rafa Benitez might have regretted not to have played this game on the originally date. He had a fit Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Yossi  Benayoun just a few ago but now he struggles to find a player to lead his attacking momentum. He did manage to field seven defensive players in the 1-1 draw against Stoke City last weekend. Liverpool had to scrap their passing flow momentum and drew out long balls up to David Ngog’s head, without any dividends. Although, Liverpool was dangerous in set pieces and once again conceded in the last minutes of the game. A good display with what is left with the squad but certainly not the expected performance from Liverpool. Albert Riera or Maxi Rodriguez could get the nod to start at Anfield, while Daniel Agger is doubtful.

Tottenham is also finding it hard in the winter periods as they have been hit on mostly off the field incidents. Robbie Keane outraged Harry Redknapp with the party and the manager, himself, getting into troubles with the tax. However, on the field, things are slowly progressing but there is a bit of momentum lost infront of goal, as Spurs draw blanks against Hull City last weekend 0-0 draw. Tottenham have lost Assou-Ekotto, Hutton, Woodgate, Pavlyuchenko and Cudicini to injuries. Both Ledley Kind and Aaron Lennon are doubtful to face Liverpool.

Liverpool would have never guessed that they would be without Gerrard and Torres for this match. To makes matter worse, Liverpool are in need of points to keep pace with the teams above them and Benitez is looking uncertain as manager of the Liverpool. Tottenham looks weak favorite against Liverpool and could well take all three points back to North London.

Premier League: Chelsea vs. Sunderland

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

By Joe, www.Bettingexpert.com

Sunderland+v+Chelsea+Premier+League+S6XnqiHEdhGlBoth teams are well rested through the worse period of the winter storm in the United Kingdom. Last weekend, Hull vs. Chelsea and Sunderland vs. Bolton were called off due to extreme weather conditions. Lucky for all you football fans, Chelsea and Sunderland fans, it is most unlikely that this game at Stamford Bridge 1500 kickoff BST will be postponed. So get ready for some Premiership football.

Chelsea will play their first game without the likes of Dider Drogba, John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien and Salomon Kalou as they are all on international duty at the African Nations Cup. Manager Carlo Ancelotti will have to make do with the rest of the players in the squad. The Italian did say he vowed not be getting any new players during the January transfer window but still many links players are linked to Chelsea, like Edin Dzeko, Augero  and Vincenzo Iaquinta. Joe Cole and Nicklas Anelka are due to extend their contracts with Chelsea.

The last time Sunderland was in action was at the start of the New Year when the FA Cup occurred. Sunderland beat Barrow 3-0 in which Fraizer Campbell  scored twice and one from Daryl Murphy. There has been transfer talks surrounding Sunderland but nothing much have materialized therefore Manager Steve Bruce will have to work with what he has got. He could travel to London without Andy Reid, Anton Ferdinard and Craig Gordon, while Michael Turner will compete his four match ban.

Even though Chelsea are without their African players, they still have a very formidable players to go in and take their places. Michael Ballack and Zhirkov will be the ones to watch in the midfield while Anelka will have to do the scoring by myself. Sunderland posies great danger with Darren Bent and Kweyne Jones upfront but can they cut through the Chelsea stubborn defense? Chelsea are favorites.

Premier League: Liverpool vs. Tottenham

THIS GAME IS POSTPONED DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES!!

Super Sunday and Liverpool will host Tottenham for their first match of the year at Anfield Road. Last time these two team met at Anfield, Liverpool won their last game of the season 2008/09 3-1 where former Liverpool player, Robbie Keane, scored for Tottenham. Last time there was nothing to play for, this time it is all to play for as next season’s Champions League spot is on the line.

A good stats for you all out there, Steven Gerrard has scored Liverpool’s first league goal of a calendar year in four of the last nine seasons. Manager Rafa Bentiez will be counting on his captain to repeat this trademark to get his team off to a good start in the Premiership. Liverpool went with a 4-4-2 system in the FA Cup encounter against Reading FC and got a reply this coming Wednesday. They are looking to avoid a draw here and get all the three points instead. Glen Johnson is not available while Javier Maschanero is still out injured and serving his last of his four match suspension.

Tottenham are looking to emulate their neighbors, Arsenal, in winning at Anfield. Liverpool has never lost both North London rivals in the same league campaign but Manager Harry Redknapp could find a way to end that. He will certainly have health squad going to Anfield as they are one of the most inform teams in the Premiership. Spurs beat Peterborough 4-0 in the FA Cup and saw the return of Luka Modric in the starting lineup.

This will be a tough one for Liverpool. They know that Tottenham is improving game by game and their squad players are definitely on par with them. It will all go down who wants it more on the day. Spurs beat Liverpool 2-1 at White Hart Lane in the season opener and former Liverpool players, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane could cause havoc in the Liverpool’s defense.
