bettingexpert blog editor. Always taking the alternative route to finding the value.

As April came to a close, so too did the BettingExpert E2000 Betway Ice Hockey Competition. After months of expert tips, valued and detailed analysis one tipster came out on top and can truly hold the mantle of BettingExperts Ice Hockey expert........at least for this season. And that tipster is LaKukaracha. I had the opportunity to chat with our ice Hockey expert and get his views on a range of topics related to betting on Ice Hockey.

Does your approach to betting on Ice Hockey differ from your approach to betting on other sports?

Well hockey is my favourite sport to bet on but in reality there isn't much difference between betting on Ice Hockey and betting on other sports. The main difference is that I spend more time following Ice Hockey results, watching live games things like that. Its the sport I know better than any other.

And when you bet on Ice Hockey, do you prefer to bet on 3-way results, OT included bets or goal Over/Unders?

I mostly bet on 3-way results and prefer those. But there's times when OT comes in really handy. Odds don't mean so much to me when I make this type of selection, I go more on gut feeling.

What sort of things do you consider when making that sort of bet selection?

Well, I can easily choose a 3 way bet with odds of say 2.35 and then use OT bet on a game which regular odds are 1.8 and OT odds 1.5. There are no rules but I go 3ways for about 75% of my games.

Do you bet on Over/Under goal totals?

Sure, that is also a good alternative. This might not make much sense, but I focus more on the Under in games rather than the Over, but I'm not really sure why that is. When it comes to goals I usually go for the odds of 2 or more, but I can settle for less from time to time. I usually watch a couple of teams which are consistent in their form and style, and follow them closely and than decide based on their opponents.

Who do you think will win the Stanley Cup this season?

To be honest, I prefer European Hockey. Austrian and Swedish leagues mostly but I do follow NHL and enjoy watching those early games live. But I didn't make one NHL bet this season, as it's not my league of expertise. Having said that, my bet would be the Boston Bruins.

Why do you think Boston will win it?

Quite simple and this doesn’t have anything to do with betting – I am a Bruins fan and I loved what they did to the Flyers.

And how does it feel to be the BettingExpert Ice Hockey champion for 2010/2011?

It feels great. Surely my wish was to finish as champion with a lot more points, keeping in mind that I was close to 100 points of profit at one stage during the season. But still, yeah, it's great and I'm looking forward to the next season. Hopefully I can defend the title

I think you'll certainly be one of the contenders. Good luck next season.

Thanks Andrew

So that's it, the Betway Ice Hockey competition for 2010/11 is in the books. Over the next months we'll be speaking with the winners of the other BettingExpert competitions. So look out for more interviews then.

great blog, i know nothing of ice hockey but very interesting to see the mind set of someone who does, well done Lakukaracha, very impressive.

Thank you and everyone else from the BE community for making something like this possible. It was a lot of fun being involved in this competition, had some great moment and than some not so great but in the end everything came on its rightful place. Looking forward to the next season with a wish to have at least double of points than this year :)

Congratulations to LaKukaracha on a nice performance, and thanks for sharing your insights.

Great Insight Andrew and LaKukaracha. I always enjoy learning how good tipsters approach betting!
