The lethal FC Copenhagen Striker, N'Doye is seeking for the stars once again, making the grade in the Champions League, he will have to do it all again in the Danish Superliga. He and his team will take on OB this saturday while rivals, Brøndby IF will travel to Silkeborg. The Danish season in full swing with Sunday and Monday booked.
Silkeborg - Brøndby IF
Saturday round 2 opener of the Superliga, Copenhagen surburbs Brøndby IF will be traveling to Jutland to face Silkeborg at the Silkeborg Stadion at 17:00 CET. The home team has started out the season opener with an 2-1 away win over FC Midtjylland last weekend. It was a solid win afterall but it wasn’t until FC Midjylland, who had a man sent off after 8 minutes, scored in the 22nd minute which woke Silkeborg up and both Kasper Risgard and Dennis Flinta got the precious goals that gave Silkeborg their first win this season. New boy defender Sune Kiilerich could be on the verge to get his home debut against Brøndby IF and that will strengthen the shaky defense experienced in the first half against FC Midtjylland.
Brøndby IF started their season with a disappointing 2-2 draw against Aab at Brøndby station last weekend. The home side struggled to breakdown the opposition and fell foul to set pieces that brought Aab infront with 2-1, it wasn’t until the dying minutes that Brøndby got a freekick outside the box and Mike Jensen drilled home the ball in the top left corner, 2-2, two points lost in this case. The midweek also saw Brøndby once again finding it difficult with concentration and defending, they hosted Ajax Amsterdam in a friendly, which eventually brought them into their knees with a 3-0 defeat. There is much to think about for Coach Henrik Jensen and the tactical aspects needs to change, fitness wise, the Brøndby squad is good to go. Key player Michael Krohn-Dehli is the man to drive Brøndby forward and thankfully he is in form.
Short and sweet here, Brøndby IF has issues when it comes to away games and this one is certainly something for them to chew on. The start of the season hasn’t been well for the blue and yellow team and somehow a rocking odds for home team might be too tempting to go for, Silkeborg could be bagging the momentum of the winning feeling.
FC Copenhagen vs. Odense (OB)
Top game of round 2, defending champions, FC Copenhagen will take on silver medalist, last season, in Parken on Saturday with the kickoff time of 19:00 CET. Expectation are high amongst the home fans to keep winning, like last season, and the opportunity to break the nearest rivals in round 2 must be comforting with the home ground advantage. The defending champion saw their season opener goes as planned with a 2-0 away win against ønderjyskE, both strikers Cesar Santin and N’Doye opened their goal scoring account of 2011/12. New Coach Roland Nilson was able to test some of the fringe players in the midweek 1-0 defeat to West Ham at Parken. Although, the swede is looking for a more improved Copenhagen on Saturday, he knows that his team is able muster the challenge that is coming their way.
All signs are good for the other Carlsberg sponsored club from Fyn and they are looking to bring home some good results from Copenhagen, Saturday afternoon. OB found themselves also in winning position last weekend at home against FC Nordsjælland with a 2-0. Great expectations this season from the silver medalist and with Champions League qualification looming in the corner, OB needs to get their players up the notch and against Copenhagen, that would certainly help them in their cause. OB needs to do all their homework or otherwise it will be another blow out again, a repeat of last season.
Key players and coaching change with the champions might not be negative as Copenhagen looks solid and strong in every position. OB will try their best to give the reigning champion a game of their own but both clubs will be eyeing their challenge in both domestic and European, Champions League. A game of two halves and the strongest will survive, OB will try to survive while Copenhagen will go find a way into the net.
FC Nordsjælland - AC Horsens (Sunday)
The home side will try to diverse another tactical plan as last weekend, 2-0 defeat to OB did not show the true side of FC Nordsjælland. Maybe it’s down to the season opening nerves that saw FC Nordsjælland not on par. Hopefully their first home game will give them confidence to see through a win in their campaign.
Horsen is one of the dark horses this season, there are not the best teams out there but surely not a team to be underestimated either. So that’s a warning to all of you guys who are looking for some kind of high odds to gamble on. Solid team with a few experienced players like Martin Retov and Lasse Kryger, but someone like Morten Rasmussen, Niels Lodberg and Gilberto macena are showing they are also up for the tasks.
Lyngby – SønderjyskE (Sunday)
This has a home win written all over on it, the reason behind this is that Lyngby are a strictly a home team that likes to score goals so expect some fireworks in their first home game. They opened their account with a 2-1 defeat but there are promising moments with Lyngby. The away team will find it difficult but not anymore difficult in their 2-0 home defeat to Copenhagen. Surely needs to wake up in the travels but highly doubt it.
AaB – AGF (Sunday)
Two of the most surprising results last weekend, Aab close in grabbing all three points against Brøndby IF, but have to settle with a point instead. AGF beat Lyngby 2-1 after a gracious comeback and looks to further their advance in North Jutland. A draw would suit the situation and that is if Aab doesn’t turn on this Sunday.
HB Køge vs. FC Midtjylland (Monday)
Doubt this will be a home win after the self destructed HB Køge who saw red in their season opener away game against Horsens. Not much better can be said about FC Midtjylland as they played with 10 men for most of the game and unable to hold off the challenge after going 1-0. Never the less, the away team looks stronger with 11 men and HB Køge might just have to pick themselves up some other time.
