Introducing William Hill Betting
Since being founded in 1934 by, you guessed it, William Hill, during a period where it was actually illegal to gamble in the UK. Ownership of the company has changed hands many times over the last 80 years, with the company now listed on the London Stock Exchange. In 2014, William Hill's operating revenue was £1.61 billion generating a profit of £206 million. William Hill launched its Australian operations in 2008, and has since purchased Australian bookmakers Centrebet and Tom Waterhouse.
As you would expect, William Hill provides customers a great range of sports to bet on both pre-match and in-play, from Australia's most popular sporting leagues and competitions like the AFL, NRL, A-League, Super League not to mention horse and greyhound racing, to the most popular tournaments and leagues across the world such as the English Premier League, Champions League, NFL, NBA and cricket. William Hill also delivers an excellent list of more obscure sports leagues and tournaments to bet on. So if there's a sporting event that you're thinking of betting on, there's a very good chance that William Hill has a betting market available for you.

Before you can place bets with any online bookmaker, your first task is to register an account with them. This is often a simple process through which you will be asked to provide some basic personal information.
So how to sign up with William Hill? It's easy. Our step by step William Hill sign up guide will take you through the process.
When you first visit William Hill you will see a gold of 'Get Started' link displayed in the top right corner of the page. Simply click on this link and the William Hill registration page will open for you.
The William Hill registration page will ask you to provide certain pieces of personal information such as your name, date of birth, address, phone and email address. You will also be required to select a username, password and agree to the site's terms and conditions. If at any stage of the registration process you have any questions or issues, click the ? Tab in the top right of the screen and a number of help options will be provided including online chat, free call as well as email.
Once you have provided all the personal information required, click the green button at the bottom of the registration page. You will now be given the chance to deposit funds into your William Hill account. (We will cover the deposit methods available to William Hill customers later in this review).
Once your first deposit has been made, you will then ready to place your bets. Remember that William Hill will match your first bet with a 100% first bet bonus up to the value of $500.
How To Claim Your William Hill Bonus
To claim your William Hill Bonus, you must first sign up and create an account with William Hill and when ready, deposit funds into your new William Hill account. Once you have funded your account, place your first bet. William Hill will reward you with a bonus bet to the value of your first settled bet stake, up to a maximum of $500. There is no William Hill promo code required to claim your bonus.
Please note that this does not mean your first settled bet has to be $500, but rather that the limit of your first bet bonus is any bet up to $500. So as an example, if your first settled bet is $600, you will receive the maximum $500 bonus bet. But on the other hand, if your first bet is $100, your first bet bonus will be $100.
What Does “First Settled Bet” Mean
Your First Bet Bonus qualifying bet is your first settled bet placed on any sports or racing market immediately following your registration. What does this mean? Well as an example, if the first bet you place with William Hill is $150 and your second bet is $75, but your $75 bet is settled prior to your $150 bet, then it will be the $75 bet that will count as your First Bet Bonus qualifying bet, with a $75 bonus bet credited to your account.
Also please note that any bets that are voided or cancelled as well as non-runners will not count as qualifying bets. Likewise, bets placed on Special Markets will not count as qualifying bets.
William Hill Bonus Expiry
Please note that you have 7 days from the day it was awarded, to use your free bet bonus. So don't forget. Use it or lose it.
Deposit Method Requirements
William Hill's First Bet Bonus is not available for any deposits made via Poli.
Using Your William Hill Bonus Bet
Once credited to your William Hill account, your first bet bonus will be available for you in your bonus bets wallet. You may apply any amount of credit when placing your bets. However, please note that the minimum bonus bet at any one time is $10. If at any stage there is less than $10 in your bonus bet wallet, you must bet the full amount remaining in your wallet.
Accessing Your William Hill Bonus Bet Winnings
Please note that only the winnings from your First Bet Bonus will be credited to your account and be available for you to claim.
It's important to note that your initial deposit and any winnings from your bonus bet must be turned over at least once on bets at odds of at least 1.50 before they may be withdrawn. What does this mean? Well it means that if your free bet bonus was a winner returning you $100, then you must place bets totalling $100 at odds of 1.50 or greater before you can withdraw your winnings.
The maximum odds that you may use your First Bet Bonus on is 101.0, and a maximum profit of $20,000.
Unfortunately if you are a resident of either Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia or Western Australia, you are not eligible to claim the William Hill First Bet Bonus. This is of course a disappointment, but add your email address here and we will be sure to inform you as soon as these geographical restrictions are lifted.
You must also be an Australian resident with AUD as your selected currency format.

What Is William Hill's Bet In-Play?
As many of you reading this review will already know, it's currently not possible to bet live in-play in Australia directly across the internet, with the current requirement being to make a phone call to a bookmaker in order to place any live in-play bets. William Hill have recently introduced Bet In-Play as a means of working around Australia's outdated sports betting legislation.
What is Bet In-Play? William Hill's Bet In-Play allows their customers to streamline their in-play betting without the need to make a phone call to place their live in-play wagers. It now only takes 5 steps to place your live bets at William Hill.
So how does William Hill's Bet In-Play work? It's simple. Firstly, make your selections and fill out your William Hill bet slip as you normally would. Then click the green Call To Place Live Bet button.
To use William Hill's Bet In-Play feature, you must have your computers' microphone enabled on your internet browser. If you are have any issues enabling your microphone, William Hill provides a guide to assist you. The key is that by allowing William Hill to access your microphone, in doing so you are satisfying the 'phone call' requirement for legal live in-play betting.
Once you have clicked the Bet In-Play Live Bet button, your bet will be read to you via an automated voice call. At this point you may cancel your bet, have the details of your bet replayed or confirm your bet by clicking the Confirm button. You bet will then be accepted and confirmed. So as you can see, it's a far more streamlined process than making a telephone call.
William Hill's Suggest A Bet
Ever had a great idea for a betting market? Well now you can claim a $250 free bet from William Hill simply by suggesting your idea. How does it work? All you have to do is tell William Hill all about your great idea for a betting market via their Twitter account @WillHillAus and if your suggestion goes up on the board and open for betting, William Hill will reward you with a $250 free bet.
William Hill Betting Odds
While William Hill do not offer the best odds in the betting industry their odds are certainly competitive by Australian bookmaker standards. AFL punters can receive match game lines at odds of 1.91 while point totals lines are available at odds of 1.88 with head to head odds for AFL matches listed at similar commission rates. If you are a NRL punter, game lines are available at odds of 1.91 with point totals lines available at odds of 1.90.
William Hill customers can bet on other popular markets such as European soccer leagues and competitions, US sports such as the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL at similarly competitive rates. Tennis punters however may be a little disappointed with the odds offered by William, but with game total lines priced at odds of 1.88, William Hill tennis odds typically out price other major bookmakers.

3 Things Users Like About William Hill
1 – Trusted Brand
The number one thing our users report when asked what they like most about being a William Hill customer is knowing that they are members of a well known and trusted brand within the betting industry. With its long history in the UK and now increasing popularity across the globe, William Hill is highly regarded for its customer service. From time to time disputes can arise between customers and their bookmaker of choice, and its at times like these that being a member of a trusted brand is appreciated.
2 – Click To Call
Similar to other industry leaders such as bet365 and Ladbrokes, William Hill have recently introduced their own streamlined live in-play betting feature. They call it Click To Call and it's proving to be a very popular feature. Now William Hill customers can place live bets with just a few clicks of their mouse, rather than the need to make a phone call to a customer service representative.
3 – Promotional Offers
William Hill offers new customers one of the best sign up offers in the betting industry, with users able to claim up to $500 in bonus bets when using our exclusive promotional code MAXBET. Many of our users made a special point of this, telling us that they feel that William Hill's first bet bonus is one of the best offers currently available.
Not only does William Hill have one of the most generous sign up offers in the betting industry, but they also have a great range of promotional offers. You can access them via William Hills promotions page where you will be able to see what offers they have for current as well as upcoming sporting events plus their full range of regular horse racing bonuses.
3 Things Users Don't Like About William Hill
1 – No Cash Out
While a number of bookmakers such as bet365 and Ladbrokes have recently introduce a Cash Out option for their customers, William Hill is yet to implement a similar feature for their Australian customers. This is of course disappointing as a Cash Out feature would certainly add value for William Hill users, giving them the chance to close a bet prior to the conclusion of a given sporting event or race, and in doing so, providing customers with more control over their betting. We hope I won't be too long before William Hill follow other industry leaders and introduce their own Cash Out feature.
2 - Account Restrictions
Disappointingly William Hill has been criticised by customers who have shown the potential to be profitable long term winners, with many reporting that they have had either their stakes for particular markets reduced or in some instances have had their accounts closed. This is unfortunate and something we have taken up issue with on behalf of our community members, but it should also be pointed out that William Hill do detail in their terms and conditions that their site and service is for the purposes of recreational punting reserving them the right to manage customer accounts accordingly.
3 – No Live Streaming
Another disappointing aspect of William Hill's Australian site is that there is currently no live streaming of sporting or racing events available. With many bookmakers such as bet365 and Sportsbet offering customers live streams of a range of popular events, William Hill is yet to introduce a similar feature for their Australian customers. We are hoping that it won't be too long before William Hill live streaming is available.
