Euro 2012 Odds – Betting markets to explore
By David, bettingexpert.com | Edited

We all naturally tend to think of favourites as being distant from delivering those huge disappointments. Once every full moon, you would think, and definitely not on my watch.
Yet is does happen and more frequently than many would think. We tend to get at least one major surprise every major tournament, be it the Euro or the World Cup. And what this means is that we can be on the profits if we invest wisely before all is said and done.
Anyone remember Turkey’s magnificent run to third place in
the 2002 World Cup after being beaten by one single goal against losing
finalists Brazil? Or the laudable, yet significantly suspicious, South Koreans’
fourth place in that same tournament.
How to forget the Greek triumph in Portugal’s Euro 2004 against the host nation, very much reminiscent of the Danish 1992 final victory in the same tournament in nearby Sweden? For both it was their first ever international title.
Tormented Italy in the midst of the Calciopoli scandal went all the way despite odds being increased on them when they were set to kick off their campaign in 2006 in Germany. On the other hand the internal squabbles in the French camp had them humbled in both the last two major tournaments collecting one point in each and making an early return home.
Meanwhile we saw Russia and Turkey falling on the semifinal hurdle at Euro 2008 and Ghana one step away from a historic semifinal in the 2010 World Cup, with Uruguay making it to fourth place.
So why should these Euro 2012 games not reserve such “surprises” for us? I think they will and below we will have a look at potential surprises that will translate to valuable odds for us to cast an eye upon before the games kick off.
