US Open 2010
The US Open is the final tennis Grand Slam of the year and is played on an outdoor Hard Court surface at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York. This year’s event will be held from August 30 to September 12. Juan Martin Del Potro and Kim Clijsters are the reigning champions although Del Potro will be unable to defend his title due to a wrist injury.
Those who are looking to bet on US Open 2010 tennis will first have to consider the credentials of five-time US Open champion Roger Federer. The Swiss was dethroned by Del Potro in last year’s final but had previously gone 41 games unbeaten at Flushing Meadows; he won the Australian Open earlier this year but has since gone out of the French Open and Wimbledon at the quarter-final stages.
Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are also potent threats given their world rankings and previous Grand Slam form, but it is worth noting that only Djokovic has made it to a US Open final previously and he was comprehensively beaten by Federer on that occasion.
Andy Murray tends to enjoy the Hard Court surface and made it all the way to the final of the US Open 2008; if he comes into the tournament in good form then a bet on the Scot could offer the best US Open odds.
In the Ladies game the US Open has been dominated by the Belgian duo who have both returned to the game in recent times following extended breaks. Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin combined have competed in five of the last seven US Open finals winning two each, backing both players at odds of around the 5/1 mark could turn out to be one of the more shrewd US Open 2010 betting tips.
The Williams sisters did once have a firm grip on their home tournament winning four titles in a row between them from 1999 to 2002, but neither player managed to even reach the final again until Serena won her third US Open title in 2008. As with any Grand Slam event both Venus and Serena Williams feature prominently in the US Open betting.
