If you instead chose to bet for the underdog, you can bet a smaller amount of money, but win a larger amount if they actually win. (Ex. If you bet $200 on the favoured team, you only win $150 if this team wins. If you bet $150 on the underdog, you win $200 if they win.
Another way to bet on basketball if to place bets on the total of the game, also called over/unders. In an over/under bet you bet on the total score of the game. When the game is over, you add both teams' scores (ex. if the score was 92-87, the total score would be 179) and compare it to the games over/under. If over/under was 170 and you have chosen over this you would win.
