Poker Strategy

Poker Strategy

In an earlier section, you learned how a game of Limit Texas Holdem is played. One thing is to play poker but another thing is to be able to play poker skillfully, which requires a command of the game and a well-developed strategy.

We will describe a table of 10 players for our advice as a starting point. The seating of a player at a table for 10 people means a lot because it makes a big difference who is playing in first (the worst) position or in last (the best) position. We are going to introduce a poker strategy and a scheme that can be of big help to the new fledgling player but first of all, we will take a look at the different positions at a table.

When looking at a table for 10 people, the earlier positions refer to the seats that are three, four or respectively five seats to the left of the dealer. The positions that are six, seven or eight places to the left of the dealer are called middle positions. The late positions refer to the two positions that are nine or ten seats to the left of the dealer (the dealer button is located in front of the 10th person).

The two blinds seats should be played in early positions when someone raises, but can also be played late when no one raised. The big blind should always be played when no player has raised!
