Handball World Championship 2011
The 20th edition of the women handball championship 2011 is held in Brazil and drama is just about to unfold as we head into the semifinals. BettingExpert is on board to examine the remaining teams from 20 teams to 4 in this competition.
Handball Brazil 2011 Semifinals:
France vs. Denmark
Quick to the chase, the French ladies are favourites to beat Denmark in the first semifinal knockout matchup. The reason behind this might be due to that the part that the Les Bleus managed to beat Russia in the quarterfinals but more over an experience team with a good leader, Mariama Signate. Although, she is out of the tournament due to an injury but even without her, France has a physical presence that the Danish team needs to figure out to counter this advantage.
The Danish ladies under Jan Pytlick have done well in getting into the semifinals. They are unbeaten in seven games and France will prove to be their major test. At least for some, this is a dream come true if Denmark gets into the final. The win over Angola in the quarterfinals did show that the young team can play out the tactics laid out from their coach. The Danish team has some highly capable players that can do the job right and working hard for each other would be the key to success. Denmark has a good take on the French ladies in the last few years but this young team might need to hit their best on the day in order to get that crucial win.
Verdict: France has become better and better over the years while Denmark is rebuilding their team among some talented strong minded capable players. France might prove too strong and class for the danes.
Norway vs. Spain
The other semifinals and once again this matchup is similar to the France vs. Denmark fixture. The Norwegians are one of the best handball nations in the world and they have demonstrated in Brazil what they are capable of. They haven’t been disappointing so far and it seems a final place is in sight as only Spain is preventing them from getting there for now. Winner of the 2008 Olympic gold, 2010 European Championship winner and soon enough, their second world championship could be easily achieved.
On the other hand, Spain has surprised a few in getting this far in the World Championship. The last time they made way into the semifinals was in 2009 which they ended up 4th while their best in the Euroepan championship was 2nd in 2008. This is somewhat a process build upon two players Carmen martin and Marta Mangue. Both players are key players but captain Begona Fernandez has also shown her worth. Never the less, head coach Jorge Duenas will have to come up with some brilliant tactics if he wants his team to advance to the final.
Verdict: A case of how long does the Spanish team can hold off Norway from outscoring them. Don’t think they will be able to hold them off more than a quarter, Norway to win this.
Handball World Championship 2011 Final Verdict:
The first finalist that can be easily predicted is Norway reaching it as they have a pretty solid team that consist of team unity and also the scary physical presence. All of the Norwegians players can score and defend, so this is a solid team that has what it takes to lift yet another trophy. Does it matter who they face, well, either France or Denmark will certainly give them a run for the money. The Danes might be running on adrenaline facing their scandic neighbors but facing France must already have put toll on them even if they managed to get to the final. France is your best bet to reach the final and maybe not tactical outplaying Norway, they can still muscle them in the final when it comes to strength. If there is one team to win this then Norway is your team, easy route to the final and either France or Denmark won’t be too hard either.
