Emeralds Spirit has been in terrific heart all season and can land Ayr's featured Bettor.com Betting Exchange Handicap at 3.40 this afternoon.

The mare got off the mark this season when winning over this trip at Thirsk, and showed this increased rating was within her compass with a creditable third over course and distance 22 days ago. Luke Morris is in the saddle for the first time here and can bring the 5-y-o through with a well timed run to assert in the closing stages.

Main danger for the £6,500 prize money comes from topweight Ballista. Tom Dascombe's 4-y-o won at Catterick on fast ground in May and has maintained that level in defeat since. He has to lump ten stone on an easier surface here, but this represents a drop in grade and the stable continues in excellent heart.

Frequency is a smooth travelling, quirky hold-up performer who needs the cards to drop right if he is to get his head in front. He cruised home at Hamilton in June but has found more testing conditions against him twice since, and is now upped in class away from claiming company.

Roninski has it all to prove after finishing tailed off on his seasonal debut 120 days ago and hails from the out-of-sorts Bryan Smart stable, while the veteran The Osteopath has been disappointing since winning at Thirsk in a bog back in April.

Sabratha was a remote second to the impressive Florio Vincitoire at Musselburgh last week and has cut little ice in seven runs this season, while Eilean Mor must have had plenty of training problems to have been sidelined for 463 days.

In summary, a gilt edged opportunity for Emeralds Spirit to continue on her upward curve against some far more exposed/out of form rivals. At around 5-2 this morning she is well worth a substancial win investment.
