Cry Fury Newmarket

David Barron's progressive sprinter Bosun Breese is fancied to land Ayr's featured Bet Mobile at Betvictor.com Handicap at 3.10 this afternoon.

The 7-y-o landed quite a touch for his shrewd connections when winning by a wide margin at Ripon ten days ago, and seems sure to go close from his raised mark under the talented Graham Gibbons. The ground that day was quite testing, but he is proven on the forecast fast ground earlier in his career and following a sprinter in form is always a sensible idea in these fiercely competitive contests.

Main danger for the £10,300 prize money may come from Ian Semple's ex-Irish Liberty Island. The 7-y-o performed at a fair level for his last connections at home, winning a Down Royal handicap last July and maintaining his form afterwards on the all-weather. A positive move in the market would encourage further on this first run for 229 days.

Rothesay Chancer has the assistance of the red-hot Graham Lee again after shaping well when travelling down south to Ascot 18 days ago. He finished third there despite not getting the clearest of runs over 6f, and this drop back down to the minimum trip should be no inconvenience. However, his best efforts seem to come when there is some cut in the ground and he may struggle to hold a prominent position in a race sure to be run at a furious pace from the off.

No Hubris represents the Ruth Carr stable that have suddenly hit form after a very quiet winter. He dropped a big hint that his turn was near when third at Thirsk last time out, ending a string of unplaced efforts that had seen his mark fall rapidly. The 5f trip seemed to suit there in heavy conditons, and it would be no suprise if he was to go close under Frankie McDonald in a bid to snap a losing run that stretches back to April 2010.

Topweight Le Toreador seems to be on the downgrade these days and needed a drop in class to land a poor 4 runner Southwell claimer when last seen 155 days ago. He seems sure to struggle back up in grade, while mudlark Go Go Green needs to prove he can handle these vastly quicker conditions.

Perhaps Style and Panache can outrun his big-price for the up-and-coming Mirco Demuro. He shaped well when a clear second to the unexposed Bouncy Bouncy on his seasonal debut at Yarmouth, and possibly found the run coming too soon at Windsor 6 days later when very disappointing. Fast ground suits and he may still be well treated after winning well at Nottingham last October.

In summary, a wide open sprint where fortune in running will as usual play a big part. Bosun Breese really impressed when landing a punt at Ripon and can defy the handicapper ten days on. At around 6-1 this morning he is decent each-way value and is worth a small investment.
