Royal Straight was an impressive winner over course and distance last time out and can follow up in Ayr's featured Totepool.com Sports, Games, Bingo & More handicap.

Linda Perratt's 7-y-o had been struggling to see out his races in testing ground in five starts this season, but bounced back to his best on a drying surface when impressing here seven days ago. He was always going very smoothly under restraint there before readily asserting for hand-riding at the furlong pole, and can defy a penalty today under the excellent 5lb claimer Shane B.Kelly.

Principal danger for the £3500 prize money comes from Keith Dalgleish's Luctor Emergo. The 3-y-o has enjoyed a very busy and fruitful spell in the north recently, winning over this course and distance in heavy ground fourteen days ago. His attitude is not all it might be under pressure and perhaps he will struggle for pace as conditions continue to quicken up as the summer weather finally begins.

Free Art is another who is usually thereabouts and faces an easier task than is usually the case. However, he has now gone 23 races without winning and is not at all straightforward when push comes to shove.

Chatterati has only beaten five rivals in five starts since winning at Southwell in March. He is getting weight all round here and needs the recent resurgence of the Mark johnston stable to revive his fortunes from a sliding rating, while Sedgwick has regressed rapidly since a Doncaster win in May.

Perhaps Toshi will be the one to outrun his odds for those looking away from the front of the market. The veteran 10-y-o is a multiple winner on the flat and over hurdles down the years, and went into the notebook over 1m5f here seven days ago. He is a smooth traveller who often finds less than expected in a finish, and perhaps this drop down 3f will suit if the cards fall right.

In summary, a typically tight handicap with all the "usual suspects" in opposition. Royal Straight cruised through the race when winning here a week ago and can defy a penalty if in a similar mood. At around 7-1 this morning an each-way investment is the call.
