Declan Carroll's progressive Prophesy is selected to land Ayr's competitive Your Favourite Pool Bets at Totepool.com Handicap at 3.30 this afternoon.

The 3-y-o showed fair form without winning for Aidan O'Brien last summer and duly landed some heavy bets when odds-on in a Catterick maiden on his first start for new connections. He built on that with a good second in a hot 1m handicap at Haydock two weeks ago and seems sure to go well again under the promising 5lb claimer Neil Farley.

Main danger for the £8,000 prize money comes from Michael Dods in-form Le Chat D'or. The 4-y-o has improved dramatically since being fitted with a tongue tie this term, getting off the mark in a 7f handicap at Redcar in April before getting the better of Hakuna Matata at Newcastle last time. He has gone up in the weights as a result, but the stable has hit a decent spell of form in the past few weeks and he must be a leading player once more.

Silvery Moon is a fair handicapper who won twice in 2011, including over this course and distance. He has performed creditably with placed efforts on three of his last four starts and the ability to handle this testing ground is certainly a plus.

Ian Semple's Blues Jazz thrived in 2011, completing a five-timer at York in September. He returned to form when a good second over 7f here last time and is worth another try at this mile trip, though he has yet to convince on very soft going and may find his stamina ebbing in the closing stages.

Topweight Star Suprise has been campaigned in Dubai over the winter and may need time to reacclimatise, while Northern Fling seems to have more poor days than good ones these days and needs to bounce back from a dire run when last seen.

Perhaps Master of Ages will outrun his odds. The 3-y-o improved to win nursery at Yarmouth last October (7f), making all of the running, but has been well beaten at Doncaster and Haydock this term. However, conditions are much more in his favour here and he could easily run well getting weight from some more exposed rivals over a trip he should stay.

In summary, a tight Sunday handicap, but Prophesy is perhaps open to more improvement on just his third start for a shrewd trainer on the up. At around 4-1 this morning, an each-way investment seems a sensible option.
