Andrew Balding's Cherry Street is fancied to land Chepstow's featured 32Red Handicap at 5.10 this afternoon.

The progressive 3-y-o failed to handle the testing ground when well held at Chester last time out, but had previously shown he had trained on when a close-up third at Kempton on seasonal debut. That effort has worked out well, and a return to faster conditions seems sure to suit under the promising David Probert (winning rider at Pontefract last October when the pair were last united).

Main danger for the £7000 prize money comes from topweight Ruacana. Michael Bell's Cape Cross gelding came good at the fourth attempt when winning over this trip 30 days ago. He had a very hard race in the end there as the heavy going reduced all runners to a "slow-motion" finish up the steep hill, and it remains to be seen how he comes out of that war of attrition.

Rei D'Oro landed a huge gamble in a modest Wolverhampton maiden last time out, and it will be interesting to see the market confidence behind the colt pitched into this warm handicap. He traded at 16-1 in-running that day as he came under strong pressure a long way from home, before staying on well up the straight to get on top close home, and this 4f increase in trip seems sure to suit on run-style.

Scatter Dice has improved on her modest placed all-weather form since switched to the turf and handicaps. She made all and ran on well to win by a wide margins at Redcar and Yarmouth (8-11f and impressive in soft ground latterly), but is now well up in the weights and class as she bids for a hat-trick.

Outsider Pinseeker showed abiltiy when runner-up at Goodwood when last seen out 8 months ago and seems sure to need a run or two to reach peak fitness, especially as he seems to have been allotted a very stiff rating on the bare form.

In summary, Cherry Street floundered in the deep ground at Chester's May meeting and can bounce back to winning form in this valuable handicap. His turn of foot can prove a telling weapon at this undulating course and he is must bet material at around 5-2 this morning.
