Nick Gifford's consistent Kuilsriver can land Plumpton's Betfair Racing Excellence Conditional Jockeys' Training Series Final Handicap Hurdle at 4.10 today.

The 5-y-o remains a maiden and has been frustrating to follow this season, heavily backed in novice company the last twice only to find one too good. He was in front soon enough when collared after the last in a course and distance event last time, and had previously done very well to press late on at Fontwell having all but fell a mile from home. His sixth in the ultra-competitive Lanzarote handicap shows he is well treated and he can finally turn silvers into gold under the promising 5lb claimer Thomas Garner.

Main danger for the £8500 prize money comes from Teenage Kicks. He won this race in 2011 and has returned to top form recently, with a decent third at Exeter last time out indicating his turn was near again. The 7-y-o won a bumper in heavy ground and will handle the testing ground better than most.

Topweight Sircozy improved to win soft ground handicaps at Fontwell and over this course and distance (by 5 lengths from Marie Deja La) recently, but struggled in a hot Sandown handicap last time and may now be firmly in the grip of the assesor.

Drumshambo has maintained a solid level since winning at Taunton in December, but is far from certain to stay this extra 4f trip in heavy ground, while Santera needs the re-application of cheekpieces to revive his fortunes after a very disappointing spell (mark is now back down to his last winning rating).

Perhaps Alan King's veteran Patsy Finnegan can outrun his price for those hunting away from the market principals. He is a winning hurdler who shaped well in a warm Doncaster handicap last time, going very smoothly for much of the way until tiring two out. The 10-y-o is ridden by a good conditional in Peter Hatton who takes off a handy 6lb.

In summary, Kuilsriver has a great chance to finally lose his maiden tag at the twelth attempt if ridden with more patience and produced late on. At around 5-1 this morning he is recommended as a maximum each-way bet.
