One more to go as we have head into the AFC Conference Finals where the New England Patriots take on the Baltimore Ravens on the East Coast this Sunday. The Patriots have been here before but the Ravens need to prove themselves, one will get through but who would it be?
New England Patriots vs. Baltimore Ravens
Sunday - 03:00PM ET
This is the big one in the AFC, the New England Patriots get home advantage over the Baltimore Ravens in the Conference Final. This is a game between the no.1 seeded team against the seeded no. 2 team in the AFC so eventually we all knew this would happened. Funny enough, these two teams did not meet in the regular season so this will be the first meeting since 2010. If you want to know then it was the Patriots who won in overtime.
The Patriots are in business as usual mode as they know they are only one away from the Superbowl. They are favourites to make the Superbowl after destroying the Denver Broncos 45-10 in the Divisional playoff weekend. It was primarily the work of quarterback Tom Brady who was outstanding on the day with 363 passing yards and 6 TDs passes. If any repeat of this performance then the Ravens will not know what will hit them. Brady is not a one man band, both Wes Walker and Rob Gronkowski also showed that they can catch, but Gronkowski was outstanding in fact, he could be the one taking the Patriots into the Superbowl by catching plenty more endzone bound passes this weekend. The offense is just awesome and looks at certain times, unbeatable and of course 9-1 at home. That should give anyone a bit of scare.
Ravens, Ravens, Ravens, are they in the Conference Final just to make the numbers up? Well, hopefully not, they are one of the improving teams during the playoffs and not surprising to see them here after brushing the Houston Texans aside at home with a 20-13. It was a nervy ending to the Divisional Playoff but the Ravens managed to hold on. Although they do not have the same presence when it comes to the offense and if they want to win, then they will have to up their game in order to match the Patriots. They will have to turn to QB Joe Flacco and running back Ray Rice but it won’t be easy. Defensively, this is a bit of a headache, because they need to be a bit more stern and tough. They were excited last weekend but this weekend, they need heart and eyeing the Patriots offense will need a whole different approach. The Ravens are not good on the, being 4-4 in the regular season, this spells like the end of the line for the flying Ravens.
Verdict:
The Ravens have to hit the field with a different attitude altogether and play their heart out, if not they will be punished everywhere on the field and by that, the name Tom Brady will be ringing in your ears. He is one of the best QBs and he didn’t disappoint last weekend, the Patriots have been here before and the experience should get them through to the Superbowl. New England Patriot first to put their names on the Superbowl lineup.
Obscure Stats - Baltimore have covered the line in just 5 of their last 16 January games and have covered the line just once in their last 6 trips to New England, while the Patriots have covered in 21 of their last 30 games following a game in which they held a team to fewer than 150 yards passing.
