Broncos vs. Steelers

A tight and heated affair betwen the Pittsburgh Stellers and the Denver Broncos will see through the wildcard match up on Sunday, the day before this tie, the Houston Texans are hosting the Cincinnati Bengals.

Houston Texans vs. Cincinnati Bengals

(Saturday - 04:30PM ET)

This is the first of the four wild card playoffs commencing on Saturday at the Reliant Stadium. The Houston Texans have the advantage of being the home team and that was achieved with an overall record of 10-6, finishing first in the AFC South in the regular season. The last time the Houston Texans won happened to be the same opposition that will be on the field this Saturday. It was also the last road win, a tight 20-19 win for the Texans last victory. The next three games saw the Texans fall to three consecutive defeats to Carolina, Indianapolis and the Tennessee Titans. Head Coach Gary Kubiak has a bit of a headache when it comes to the QB position. They have lost Matt Schaub and back-up Matt Leinart, so all hope rests on T.J Yates, who should be ready after injuring his throwing shoulder. He will provide the service to receiver Andre Johnson, five-time Pro Bowl who is doubtful with hamstring issues. He was the key to the Texans last victory and he will be watched tightly.

Losing their last game of the regular season might not help but they have got the wildcard spot which they wanted. With a 9-7 overall record, they face the Texans on the road and on the road, they are 5-3 in the regular season, just remembering they did lose to the Texans at home. The issue for the Bengals is whether they are able to beat a good team, they lost twice to the Steelers, Ravens and once to the 49ers. It will be up to the defense to stop the running back of the Texans. Although achieving that won't always ensure victory and that is obvious after their previous match up. The Bengals played a balanced game of both run and pass, we should be expecting similar on Saturday with Cedric Benson and Bernard Scott doing most of the running. Turnovers will be the number one enemy for the Bengals and QB Andy Dalton must focus in his throwing.

Verdict:

Considering the Texans have the upper hand already, going with the home team and also seeing a 5-3 record at home, two coming from the last two games, the Texans are strong so Houston doesn’t have a problem.

Denver Broncos vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

(Sunday – 04:30 PM ET)

Some will say it is over even before it begins. The Denver Broncos aren’t one of them for sure thinking or even remotely listening to what the public or the media have to say. They know they have worked hard to get here and they have every chance to further themselves in the playoffs. The Broncos started the regular season slowly and also finished with a three straight defeats, but it was the middle stint that saw them winning seven games out of 8, a winning streak of six. Lately the Broncos have been struggling with the offensive line and with that ground-heavy offense, expect some serious change up or things could go black at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High. This is a team that has one of the best averages when it comes to running and passing, all of that will have to be demonstrated by QB Tim Tebow and Willis McGahee but don’t forget that both Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas can also feature.

The Black and Yellow colours are moving into Denver this weekend and very much flying the flag as the favorites. The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to make their way once again into the Superbowl and this time around, they really want to make it. The regular season serves them some kind results and with a 12-4 record, they are going in with QB Ben Roethlisberger not fully 100% fit as he is suffering from an ankle injury. The Steeler’s defense has been top notch and they are surely going to shut out the Broncos. The Steelers kept it pretty much low key in their run up to this game so expect another offensive win like this, if QB plays. Their only defeat at home in the regular season was against the Baltimore Ravens but the rest were on the road. Once again, it was Raven in Week 1, while Houston and San Francisco 49ers also got the best of the Steelers on the road. With Steelers top running back, Rashard Mendenhall, suffering a knee injury, we can expect that Isaac Redmen to get a bit of the ball on Sunday so the favourites have injuries to think about.

Verdict:

Another run of the 2005 AFC Championship and that went the Steelers way, so fast forward 2012 and the Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow will be chanting once again at the end.
