Conference Final last season was thrilling and now only one will be leaving Sunday as a winner and that could yet be the Packers led by Aaron Rodgers once again. Elsewhere the Eagles are back with Michael Vick fending off the New York Giant charge.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants
With a defeat in Week 2 and seeing their Quarterback Michael Vick going down with a concussion, Week 3 could see other quarterbacks, Mike Kafka and Vince Young get a shot home to the New York Giants. After evlaution and returning to practice on Thursday, Vick is cleared to play and should then start against the Giants. There is more good news, their old foes, the Giants are a team that the Eagles usually do well against. They are undefeated against New York in 12 attempts. Considering some of the statistics from last year’s game, 500 yards with three TD passes then this should be an easy win for the Eagles.
The Giants finally got their season off an running with a 28-16 win over the St. Louis Rams last Monday Night. It will make nice reading if they were to continue the success this week but against their arch-rival, the Giants Eli Manning will have to do much more than he has so far in 2011. And this will not be helped with news that receiver Domenik Hixon will not be able to support Manning as he is out for the reason after tearing his ACL for the second time. There might be a return in sight for DE Osi Umenyiora which would assist the Giants in their attempts to contain Vick.
Verdict: Leaky Giants defense could lead to Vick rising again, Eagles flying high.
Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers
The oldest rivalry in NFL history returns and the last time these two teams met, the Chicago Bears dropped out of the playoffs, losing a spot in the Superbowl. The Bears are 1-1 for now and QB Jay Culter will need to play a big part if they want to win. It all comes down to how well he throws and how much playing time he gets, as the last match against the Packers up saw him going out in 3rd quarter and the Bears virtually lost the game from there on. If anything was to go by their last game then they seriously need to regroup and believe in themselves a bit more. Their 30-13 defeat to New Orleans Saints spells a bit of trouble on the offensive side of the ball.
The Greeen Bay Packers are one a good run and also possible the strongest team currently in NFL. Their two for two is showing some strength amongst the ranks and all thanks to QB Aaron Rodgers. This is the one man the Packers are looking to if they want to get far this season. Rodgers is currently 2nd in the league behind Tom Brady for QB Rating, with a 71% completion rate, 630 yards passing and 5 TD's without throwing an interception. With these numbers, it' s no doubt the Packers are favourites and are on the verge giving the Bears another lesson.
Verdict: Bears out defensively, and Packers will finish things off like last season.
