QB Aaron Rodgers is looking to pick up the MVP award and definitely a flawless season that might be coming in the run up to the playoffs. The Green Bay Packers are to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night while Sunday will see the New York Jets take on the New England Patriots and the 49ers getting on the New York Giants.
San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Giants
The surprise packages this season award might have gone Detroit Lions way but it is the 49ers who crash the party by leading the West with an overall record of 7-1. Their opponent is ever so impressive too, leading the NFC East, which is also a surprise a few with their good form. Their overall record is 6-2 and that should be enough to contest the 49ers at their own backyard.
San Francisco 49ers are seen to enjoying a good form with six consecutive winning streak and that is all thanks to their above and beyond run defense. This is aided with their running back Frank Gore who has exploded this season with 7,196 rushing yards and topping 100 yards in each of the last five games, finding five touchdowns. This is also supplement with Quarterback Alex Smith who is playing one of his best seasons since being draft in 2005. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has already shown that he is overachieving with this team, 7-1 is their current overall record and last season, it was the reverse, fortunes have chances and the drive is there. One must think that Harbaugh has done a tremendous job with the 49ers regardless of what happens on Sunday.
A surprising road win over the New England Patriots by 24-20 continued the Giant’s winning streak to three and making it six in total going into Week 10. The Giants will continue their road trip to the West and find themselves in a tie against yet another playoff contender. If there is one player on the team that will bring this team back to their former glory then quarterback Eli Manning has shown that he is capable to lead this team once again. He will either need wider receiver Victor Cruz but also Hakeem Nicks who could return from a hamstring injury. Either way, the Giants are on the stand to score on Sunday.
Verdict: Two potential candidates for the playoff, 49ers looks strong while Giants effected by the travel.
New York Jets vs. New England Patriots
Back from a Bye week, the New York Jets storms out of Week 9 with a road win over the Buffalo Bill with a 27-11 score line. This surely made Rex Ryan happy after losing three straight games in Week 5 and able to overturn that demoralizing period into three straight wins. They now host the New England Patriots who gave one of the defeat during their slump and the bells of the payback theme tune must be ringing louder and louder by the day as we get to Sunday. The Jets are 4-0 at home and wouldn’t it be pleasing to the home crowd to beat their arch rivals at the MetLife Stadium. That depends whether QB Mark Sanchez will throw some meaningful pass or restrict him time on the ball. The running play seems to be their only game for now.
The New England Patriots is enduring one of their worse period in their turn of
the century with losing three straight games, not experience since 2002, which
was nine years ago. The passing game hasn’t found their fluid runs with QB Tom
Brady just throwing blanks to Chad Ochocinco. They are relying on their offensive
power from both Wes Welker and Rob Gronkowski. A bit of change is needed
desperately and a mix of runs and pass is required if they want to win this. Is
it Tom Brady’s fault, while not entirely but surely the whole team needs some
uplifting spirits to beat their arch rivals.
Verdict: Archrivals meet up and Jets are looking to revenge and should still be undefeated at home at the end of the evening.
Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Monday Night will see the only undefeated team in the NFL take on the Minnesota Vikings at the Lambeau Field. This is a team that is playing some great football and the 8-0 record is nearing their best ever start to a NFL season with 10-0 record back in 1962. The Packers are once again thankful for the QB Aaron Rodgers immense form averaging 34.4 points per game and surely the tag of being MVP is well deserved. The only area that the Packers might show some weakness is their defensive end and that was exposed in the 45-38 win over the San Diego Chargers last weekend. As long as Rodgers and wide receiver Greg Jennings are on the field, then Packers are truly untouchable.
The Vikings might get another beating again if they haven’t had enough in Game 7. The Vikings were at home and lost 33-27 which somehow spur them on to snap out of the two game losing streak to beat Caroline Panthers with 24-21, before heading off to a Bye Week in Week 9. So rested and ready to come out fighting, Week 10 might be a tricky road trip and stopping Aaron Rodgers will be the key game plan. Defensive coverage play is one option while offensively there might be one that can draw out some panic in Green bay and running back A. Peterson could provide that panic.
Verdict: Packers to finish off Vikings and registering a second straight win over Minnesota.
