San Antonio Spurs vs. Oklahoma City Thunders
Western Conference Finals – Best of 7
Both teams have been outstanding in the West and it’s time for them to go head to head against each other and claim the glory of getting into the NBA Final. As it stands, Spurs finished first in the Western Conference in the regular season will get the home court advantage and the regular season also shows thatthe San Antonio Spurs leads 2-1 in the regular season over the Thunders. They are pretty well matched in the points and field goals, however Spurs have theadvantage over the 3 points FG and 2nd chance points. There will be some interesting points to see whether they will continue in the Conference Finals.
No need for introduction for Spurs, they have both Tony Parker and Tim Duncan leading the scoring department while D. Green and K. Leonard will have to find a way to stop Kevin Durant. Both Green and Leonard needs to slow Durant’s game and in true style, Spurs have recently showed that they are able transition from playing good defence and doing what is needed on the other end. They are a fast pace team that can spread their opponents out, in which both Duncan can score points on the post and Parker running into the paint to get those basket. More to it is the depth of the team, they have James Andersen, DeJuan Blair, Manu Ginobili and Stephan Jackson ready. This is a team that went out of the playoff last year in the first round and now they are back for more.
OKC have already beaten the defending champions, Dallas Mavericks and also the LA Lakers, 4-1 in the Conference Semi-finals to reach the Conference Finals. This is a team that has all the potential to make it an era of their own but it will have to start by claiming that they are the best team in the West. Both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will be the heart of the team and that they displayed in the last two series. Above all, they have a team that is learning each step of the way with Kendrick Perkins and James Harden teaming up well with the rest. Much of the team is a unit with Cole Aldrich, Nick Collison and Derek Fisher on call. This team have shown they can mess with the best and tested out what character they are. Taking on Spurs will be a huge task and being one of the best scoring team in the league, Thunders are ready this on.
Verdict:
Fancy the experience or the newcomers? Spurs or OKC, this one is going down to the wire with seven games. At the end, Spurs could be the one standing tall and experience will count on this occasion. Not just that, it’s also that Spurs can play both defence and offense as to Thunders will have to play hard offensive to keep Spurs on their toes. Spurs to win the West.
Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics
Eastern Conference Finals – Best of 7
The East is looking at two players that might take all the limelight, both Miami Heat LeBron James and Boston Celtics Rajon Rondo have turned their teams around to get them to the Conference Final. The Heat will take the Celtics are home in Miami on Monday for the first game and that’s one advantage the Heat has.
Not the same as last year when the Miami Heat took the Conference Final as this time around, the Heat are relying on both Dwayne Wade and LeBron James. However, last year it was with Chris Bosh and this year it is without as Bosh has been out with injury and unlikely to return for this series. So this is a two man team and when they hit the form , the Heat are unstoppable, but when they hit the rim, then it is anyone’s game, just as it showed against the Indiaia Pacer at home in Game 2. The team needs D-Wade to come up with the goods, if you saw him in the last game against the Pacers then you know there is something to fear for. His confidence is on a high and so will his team. This time they have three shooters so moving the ball will be key in the offensive beside LeBron James playing superman or was it D-Wade?

An ageing team that played seven games against the 76ers and it took a Paul Pierce foul out to get Rajon Rondo into the limelight. Should we say single handed winning the four quarter and advancing into the Conference Finals. If you think that this team hasn’t got the ambition then think again, they got the heart but whether they have the engine seems to work in the Conference Finals remains to be seen against the Heat. Ray Allen will return to the starting line up but there is a question mark over his ankle will hold. However, he could be saved by Kevin Garnett’s presence, he will be a tough player to guard, in fact there isn’t any Heat player that can take him and if KG goes down low, then you know there is no return. Their fast break will be a key play for them and experience will certainly kick in sometime.
Verdict:
Definitely see this series goes into seven games but slightly advantage for the Miami Heat. They have been here before and when they get going, it will be hard to stop and only Doc Rivers will have to think hard on their game play. Two of the best players in the league will go head to head, one that LeBron James will win but on a team as a whole, the Celtics are far more of a unit. However, these games are won individually and I can see D-Wade or LeBron doing the business and advance to the NBA Finals for the second consecutive season.
