Boston Celtics vs. Lakers

Two of the most successful teams in the NBA will be meeting up on Thursday for the first time this season, both the Celtics and Lakers have yet another score to settle. The battle of the East continue on Wednesday when the Orlando Magic takes on Miami Heat and back to Thursday, the Kings will host the Thunders.

Orlando Magic vs. Miami Heat

Wednesday matchup between two playoff contender and it is the Orlando Magic who has the home advantage in this instant. The Magic are working their magic with both Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard as the bearer of the team. More so to Howard as he has been consistently been the high scorer for the team, so without the big man, doesn’t think the Orlando Magic have what it takes to take on any playoff teams. The five starters, Howard, Turkoglu, Ryan Andersen, Jeason Richardson and Chris Duhon are getting lots of minutes on the court. However, it still remains to be seen whether their bench will be able to make that impact, both Quentin Richardson and J.J Redick haven’t make that stride yet. Although on the plus side, the Magic has hit a three straight winning streak before getting derailed by the Los Angeles Clippers at home on Monday night with a 107-102 OT defeat.

The Miami Heat might have to deal with consecutive night being on the court. The Heat will have to contend with the Cleveland Cavs on Tuesday night before starting their six game road trip, starting with the Orlando Magic. The Big 3 should be amongst the starting five on Wednesday and there should be any doubt that LeBron James is expected to get all the attention for the basket.  The last defeat for Heat on the road was against the Milwaukee Bucks with a 105-97, which was just a week ago. A good start to the road trip will be crucial and considering that the Heat hits an above 90 points per match, it will be a high scoring match against the Magic. Never mind the defense when you know they can sore and believe it or not, this is their first meeting in season.

Verdict:

Let’s start with a bet of over 180.5 points scored and for some, maybe a small stake for also a 190.5 points, go one why not. But for who to win this first match up between the two, it will be the Miami Heat. They are such a force offensively and they always go for it on the road so bigger chance that the Heat wins.

Boston Celtics vs. Los Angeles Lakers

(Thursday)

On the verge back to their best, the Boston Celtics are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with Paul Pierce back in scoring form. 2012 started with three straight win and followed up with a five game losing streak which did meant they were having troubles without their big games playing starters. They have claimed 8 games in winning side out of 9, however home to the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday should only extend the Celtics winning streak to five without any trouble. Both Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce will have to show that good form of the late as they take on the Lakers. Defensively is the key to slow down the Laker’s transition play.

The six game road trip for the Lakers started with a win over Denver Nuggets with a 93-89 but a two straight losing streak to both the Utah Jazz and the Philadelphia 76ers have given them a bit of a defense think tank. The Laker’s road trip record hasn’t been impressive and with a 3-10 to show for, thing can get a bit murky by the end of the night at TD Gardens. Kobe Bryant is still the key player that is doing much of the magic on the court while both Gasol and Bynum doing the rebounds. Besides them three, the others haven’t muster up the help that is required in the scoring department. The loss to the 76ers on Tuesday didn’t give Bryant the headlining news of him overtaking Shaq in the all-time scoring in NBA history. Two loss on the road and there is a long way to go as they face Boston Celtics for the first time this season.

Verdict:

On-song Celtic against the winless Lakers on the road, this should be an easy one to pick out. The Lakers will see the return of Head Coach Mike Brown on the bench after suspension. Boston Celtics to win even though Kobe Bryant will keep on scoring.

Sacramento Kings vs. Oklahoma City Thunders

(Thursday)

Winning isn’t an usual feat this season or last, but the Kings are better winning at home than on their road trips. On rare occasions, they have managed to beat San Antonio Spurs, Lakers, Bucks, Pacers and even the Golden State Warriors. So what is to be expected when the Thunders come for a visit. Both T. Evans and M. Thornton are making things happen for the teams but on occasions. But the man they are looking to lead them could be DeMarcus Cousins who found his mojo with the win 100-92 against the New Orleans Hornets on the road. They play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night but that shouldn’t affect their home game against the Thunders.

The Thunders are on a five game road trip but started with a lost to the San Antonio Spurs with 107-96. They followed up with a win over the Portland Trailblazers in OT with 111-107. That should jump start the confidence on the road and since the Golden State Warrior are next on Tuesday before taking on the Sacramento King on Thursday.  Kevin Durant is the man to count on when it comes to hitting the vital basket. R. Westbrook contributes to the team all-round through points, assists and steals. Although they haven’t face the Kings yet, it could be surprising to see how they match up against a team like that. The Thunders are favourites .

Verdict:

This is going to be a toss up, if the Kings are really up for it then surely they find their way victorious by the end of the night. However, the Thunders are strong, regardless being at home or the road, but a surprise is about to happen and going for the Kings on this.
