Borussia Dortmund - 1. FC Nuremberg

By Joachim, BettingExpert.com | Edited

On matchday 32 Borussia Dortmund gets another chance to win the title, in a match against Nuremberg - but it also depends on the outcome of the Leverkusen match if they will actually be able to lift the trophy right away. Especially Borussia Dortmund is under increased pressure after the embarassing 0-1 away loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach, last of the league table at the time. Should Dortmund lose there would be a brilliant opportunity for Leverkusen to come very close to Dortmund and maybe even snatch the title in the last few remaining matches of the season.

Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund - 1. FC Nürnberg
Will Dortmund win the title this weekend?

With all the hype about Dortmund people tend to forget just how sensational the current 6th place for Nurember is, as they were widely regarded a strong candidate for getting relegated to the Second Bundesliga. But there could still be more in store for Nuremberg, the duel with Mainz 05 for the remaining Europa League spot (5th place) is still ongoing. Mainz however have two points on Nuremberg and an easier final stretch of the season, while Nuremberg has to play both Dortmund and Hannover away - a more challenging task than ever this season. Because Nuremberg just managed a goalless draw against Mainz last time out they now will have to try to get as many points as they can out of the remaining three matches - but there is no reason for them to just roll over and die. There won't be any changes to the starting line-up for the guests, which would mean that Jens Hegeler will play instead of Ilkay Gündogan, who incidentally is rumoured to replace Dortmund's Nuri Sahin sooner or later - but negotiations are still pending in both cases. Should Timothy Chandler indeed be injured (having slight problems as of now), he will be replaced by Juri Judt.

Borussia Dortmund now have to show if they indeed are championship material, after they seemed to have it in the bag several times over this season the fat lady still refuses to sing - and Dortmund keep slipping up, while Leverkusen (apart from the atrocious 1-5 away loss to Bayern Munich) just struggle during the game, but always take the three points. While playing like robots on speed during the first leg of the season, Dortmund only got 8 points out of the last 6 matches. Against Nuremberg Dortmund have a great chance to make a big step to the championship title anyway, and should Leverkusen not win their own match against their arch rival at Cologne, Dortmund would be the champion once again. Dortmund will have to do without a few key players however, Nuri Sahin and Shinji Kagawa are both injured, while both Lucas Barrios and Kevin Großkreutz haven't been cleared yet. This will only be decided on matchday.

Probable line-ups:

Borussia Dortmund:

Weidenfeller - Piszczek, Hummels, Subotic, Schmelzer - Bender, da Silva - Götze, Lewandowski, Großkreutz - Barrios

Missing:

Sahin, Kagawa, Owomoyela, Kringe, Kehl

1. FC Nuremberg:

Schäfer - Chandler, Wollscheid, Wolf, Pinola - Simons, Cohen - Hegeler, Ekici, Eigler - Schieber

Missing:

Bunjaku, Frantz

Verdict:

So far there have been 57 Bundesliga matches between the two teams, and Dortmund could win 27 of those, while Nuremberg won only 13. On Saturday the hosts are overwhelming favorites to take the match, who traditionally are very strong at home against Nuremberg (W-D-L: 19-5-4). Dortmund also only lost one of the last 21 games against Nuremberg, counting home and away matches. Everything is set for an easy victory for Dortmund, the only question that seems to remain is just how big a party it will be in the end - but that also depends on Leverkusen and Cologne.
