Hamburger SV - Hannover 96
By Joachim, BettingExpert.com | Edited
Hannover 96 managed to pass Bayern Munich once again last weekend, and it cost Louis van Gaal his job. Hannover 96 won against Mainz 05 last time out, while Bayern only got a 1-1 draw out of their fixture against Nuremberg, due to atrocious goalkeeping. Hannover is back in the driver's seat and are now looking to secure third place, which would see them take part in next season's Champions League qualifying round instead of Bayern Munich.

| Hamburg isn't ready to surrender just yet - even though they might as well. |
Meanwhile Hannover have handily secured a place in the Europa League at the very least, an impressive feat for a team that was supposed to be battling relegation. Against Hamburg Mirko Slomka will once again rely on his well-proven system including strikers Didier Ya Konan and Mohammed Abdellaoue, the starting line-up will look just the same as it did against Mainz 05 - there really is no good reason to change a winning team in this case.
Hamburg just fell short off taking three points from Borussia Dortmund last weekend, but injury time saw Jakub Blaszczykowski blasting a cannonball of a shot just below the crossbar into the net, which secured a well-deserved draw for Borussia Dortmund, who overall outclassed Hamburg especially in the 2nd half but just didn't seem to be able to make use of their numerous scoring opportunities. Against Hannover 96 Hamburg just have to win if they want to a chance to make 5th place, thus securing a spot in the Europa League. Hamburg will soon have to cut costs anyway, the current squad costs as much as a Champions League contender, but fails to deliver results. Not playing internationally could mean a tremendous shift in the club's financial planning. Probably there won't be any changes to the starting line-up by Michael Oenning apart from one spot - Anis Ben-Hatira is suspended and will be replaced by Marcell Jansen in midfield.
Probable line-ups:
Hamburger SV:
Rost - Diekmeier, Westermann, Kacar, Aogo - Jarolim, Zé Roberto - Jansen, Elia - Petric, van NistelrooyMissing in action:

Hannover 96:
Zieler - Cherundolo, Pogatetz, Haggui, Schulz - Schmiedebach, Pinto - Stindl, Rausch - Abdellaoue, Ya KonanMissing in action:

Verdict
So far both teams met 45 times in Bundesliga history, Hamburg won 18 of those and Hannover was victorious on 14 occasions. The first leg match of this season was won by Hannover due to a goal by Mike Hanke, who meanwhile plays for Borussia Mönchengladbach. As far as the odds go the home team is the clear favorite, but the match might tell a very different story. Away from home Hannover have lost half of their matches, but are determined to take and fight for third place if they can. Current form also hints at Hannover having a bigger chance than the odds suggest. After a gripping match we will see another draw, which really doesn't help either team.Write a comment
