Gotze

A new star is just emerging for both Dortmund and Germany. Mario Gotze must be feeling in seventh heaven after scoring in both for his club and for his country in a space of four days. This weekend, he travels with Dortmund to face Hoffenheim and could continue his scoring streak. Bayern will travel to Wolfsburg while Leverkusen hosts Werder Bremen on Sunday.

Hoffenheim vs. Dortmund

The start of the season hasn’t been good nor easy for Hoffenhiem. They started out with an extra time away win over Germania Windeck and followed up with a 2-1 away defeat to Hannover 96. So sitting firmly at the bottom of the Bundesliga, could it be that they will be fighting for relegation this season? Their opening day defeat to Hanover was also a bit heavy handed as a clear mistake from the referee lead to the winning goal for Hannover. On the bright side of things, the Hoffenheim defence stood solid during open play but it was the set pieces where they have to work on. Coach Holger Stanislawski will surely deploy the 4-2-3-1 system with Mlapa going upfront alone once again.

Things are back to normal with Dortmund, they went into their first game of the season with a 3-1 win over Hamburg last Friday kicking off the season as they finished it 81 days ago. They now travel to Hoffenheim with much confidence to continue their glorious status as league leaders and defending champions. Many punters out there would have put question marks over Dortmund midfield lost of Sahlin but both Mario Gotze and Kevin Mrosskreutz really showed their worth in the 3-1 win over Hamburg. Both hit goals on the day and really showed their influence on the team, both will play a big part in Dortmund’s season. The team is up and running but the test will also show whether they can continue the winning form, home and away. Defender Mats Hummels will be the key to keep things tidy at the back.

Believe it or not, Hoffenhiem looks likely to incur their second defeat this season. So that would be two out of two as Dortmund visits their stadium. The visitors are obviously favourites to take three points and with Gotze also being on target against Brazil in the midweek, good things are definitely coming up soon for this young talent.

Wolfsburg vs. Bayern Munich

The season opener win for Wolfsburg are certainly good signs for more better things to come. Their coach Felix Magath has given them confidence and more so determination within the squad. The 3-0 away win against FC Koln gave ex-colonge centre forward Patick Helmes, now Wolves, the last laugh with two goals. He was well supplemented with both Marcel Schafer (left back) and midfielder Christian Trasch giving one of the best performances. Magath will be hoping for another superb performance this Saturday but he will be without Jan Polak for their first home game. Ashkan Dejagah, who missed out the trip to Cologne, will return and be another addition to the squad.

Things just can’t get any worse than this, well it could for the Bayern as they travel to Wolfsburg this weekend after coming off a home 1-0 defeat to Monchengladbach last weekend. Alarm bells are ringing for some but Coach Jupp Heynckes will certainly be one of the calm one as he plots his first win for the club. The Bavarians will need to forget last weekend’s game and move on in order to start believing that they can play like champions once again. If you look at the squad, Bastian Schweinsteiger scored in the 3-2 win over Brazil in the midweek and also Frank Ribery announces his readiness to play again for the full 90 minutes compared to his cameo appearance at the Allianz Arena. There are suggestions that there needs to be more concentration and clinical finishing from the striker, if all the indigrents are together then Bayern could be on their way to open their account in the Bundesliga.

Predictions: Both Wolfsburg and Bayern are looking for the win, but a draw seems more fairer.

Bayer Leverkusen vs. Werder Bremen

The disappointment continues already after the first game of the season, last year’s runner up Leverkusen crashed into a 2-0 away defeat to Mainz 05 and woes are set to continue as they face Werder Bremen at home this weekend. Coach Robin Dutt have a lot to do after yet another defeat, first one in the DFB Pokal Cup, and the worries are still continuing as goal keeper Rene Adler is still out with a knee injury and with Fabian Giefer sustaining a concussion against Mainz last weekend. The goal keeper situation is still yet unanswered as we go into the Sunday game against Werder Bremen. Although one thing is for sure A. Schurrle could lead by example for the revival of Leverkusen, his winning goal against Brazil in the midweek must inspire his teammates to go for one better this weekend.

Werder Bremen lifted themselves up already in the first game of the season by beating Kaiserlautern 2-0 at home last weekend. Aaron Hunt showed that he has a lot potential for this upcoming season, while new signings Sokratis Papastathopoylos, Andreas Wolf and Lukas Schmitz all impressed on their debute for Werder Bremen, this could be an interest season and already in their second game, they will be face with a tough test to take on Leverkusen. Their spirits and confidence are on a high, after last season relegation scare, it is possible that there will be a lot of promising days and with some discipline, the good old days could return with a good show against Leverkusen this Sunday.

Predictions: Time for a chance for Werder Bremen and a draw could be on the cards.
