The expected final for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2011 will be contested by two nations, USA and Mexico, that has been making the final for the last three consecutive times. The El Tri has been on top of the things but team USA are looking to find a way to get their name back onto the trophy.

CONCACAF Gold Cup Final 2011 Preview - Mexico vs. USA

A fourth straight consecutive Final for the host nation, USA will meet the defending champions, Mexico at the Rose Bowl, this Saturday. This border rivalry will ignite some tension between the two nation, one will be the fans at the stadium, two the continuous bragging rights and three, a one way ticket to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Mexico has been in magnificent form and maybe the pressure was getting into them, their semifinal win only came in the extra time with 2-0 over Honduras. Both Aldo De Nigris and Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez settled the matter and both players are looking forward to meet Team USA for the third consecutive Final in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. If this match was based on just on the previous matchup then Mexico is definitely in the favorites bracket, their 5-0 drubbing two years ago made it embarrassing for the United States and a second time running of another win wouldn’t disappoint the Mexican fans. The El Tri will certainly be looking for some inspirations from Aldo De Nigris who has been outstanding with three goals in the last four games. Coach Jose Manuel de la Torre will keep the offensive tactics of Chicaharito, Andres Guardadado and Giovani Dos Santos while in defense veteran Rafael Marquez will lead the team out onto the field with eyes sight on another triumph.

Revenge is the menu and maybe it might be a strong word, the feeling is definitely running deep with Team USA knowing they have to show the home crowd that only a win will end this tournament with success. USA reached their fourth gold cup by beating Panama 1-0, avenging their only loss in the group stages, and hopeful tasting victory since their last triumph in 2007 in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final. Team USA will be going into this final with a full set of clean health where everyone is available to flex their muscle in getting the must win at the Rose Bowl. Veterans Clint Dempsey, Lanadon Donovan and Jermaine Jones will be considered as the key players while striker Jozy Altidore is out with a hamstring. This could give Freddy Adu some more playing time after coming on the pitch for the last four minutes as Panama, ending a two year exile for Team USA. The Americans have being improving and espically the defense looks more solid than it was in the group stages. With that mind, a more tactical game needs to be adopted going into the game against Mexico. If the defense remains solid for the 90 minutes, there is a chance for the American to pressure the Mexicans into submission in which will play into the host’s advantage.

The Battle of two nations continues and with only one winner in sight, this time the Americans have nothing to lose at home turf while Mexico have pride to sustain in their behalf. Having said all of that, there is certainly more than just pride to be played for, a ticket to the 2014 Brazil is on the line and with that in mind, USA in full strengthen hasn’t lost to Mexico, on American soil, since 2000 and team USA will be putting their best eleven on in the Final. On the other hand, Mexico is a team emerging from what was left of the World Cup squad in South Africa. The new generation is coming up with some heavyweights that can compete with the best in the world. This is their golden generation and with that in mind, Mexico are weak favorites but evens when they step into the field. Too close to call but team USA might edge on penalties.
