The Ecuadorian National Team is one ot the teams in CONMEBOL that has not won the title. Currently in the bottom ranking of the South American standing, La Tri ‘s best result in this tournament was when the hosted the game in 1993, they reached the quarter-final and finished 4th. On the other hand, they have shown more of their ability in the World Cup stage. The Ecuadorian qualified in 2002 and 2006, which they passed the group stages in the latter year but was knockout when they met England in the Round of 16 stage. However, they failed to qualify for South Africa last year. Head coach Reinaldo Rueda, who had successfully lead led Honduras in the WC2010 after a long absent, will have four players in his squad that are playing outside Ecuador. With the likes of Antonio Valencia who had just help his club Manchester United to win the Premier League title this season and skipper Walter Ayovi who plays for Monterrey club in Mexico who had also help is club win the CONCACAF Champions League, coach Rueda will be hoping that his lineup will give him a solid result in this year’s Copa America 2011.
