Marc Janko

Twente super striker, Marc Janko, is firing on every opportunity he is given in front of goal and that is why he is one of the most promising goal scorer in Europe. He will be helping Twente to increase their lead in their group as they travel to Odense to face OB. Championship team, Birmingham will travel to Belgium to face Club Brugge on Thursday.

Club Brugge vs. Birmingham (Group H)

The league leaders in Group H and second in their domestic league, Club Brugge are having a fine season.  This will certainly transpire into the Thursday Europa League tie against Birmingham after the Club Brugge came off a 2-0 win over AA Gent in the weekend. Head coach Adrie Koster selected the same 19 squad in the 1-1 draw a fortnight ago to their weekend win so don’t be surprised if you’ll see the same squad out on Thursday evening. The Brugge fans will be hopefully to see both goal scorers T. Meunier and B. Vleminckx in the starting line up while Matej Vydra, Fredrik Stenman, Maxime Lestienne and Vladan Kujovic are all out of commission.

The midland team will travel to Belgium to take on Club Brugge in their first ever contest in any European competitions. Their run up to this match up should give a few good sign of what is to be expected in Belgium. Birmingham managed to beat Lecister City by 2-0 at home and new life beckon in championship mid table fight. However, the weekend game might have been a win but first half was marred with poor performance and Birmingham couldn’t muster any clear cut chances, until the penalty give in the second half. So expecting some crude defending on Thursday from Birmingham and don’t expect them to be very adventurous to improve their third place in Group H. Birmingham will sit back and might even find themselves with some fringe players as they are desperate to get back into the Premiership.

Verdict: Home side to win yet again making it 3 out of 3 games won.

OB vs. Twente (Group K)

A tricky team to face when there is an unknown quantity about them, sadly it was being exposed by losing to Fulham in Matchday 2, so it’s all about bouncing back in matchday 3. They take on group leader, Twente, who are only a point in front of OB so with a bit of luck, they can end up on Thursday night leading Group K. Although their domestic form hasn’t showed that they are not a force to be reckon with, sitting firmly in fifth place and drew 0-0 away to AGF has meant a clean sheet is a good start if they want to keep it clean against Twente. OB is likely to go with the striking force of Peter Utaka and Djiby Fall while Chris Sorensen will be able to help from the midfield point of view. A strong push is required if they want their adventure to go on and a three points are vital, as the rest of their Europa League fixture will be going away from home, at least to both Fulham and Twente.

The solid Dutch side are in no mood to keep OB at bay with some defensive football. They saw what Fulham was able to do in Matchday 2 so they are more incline to take on the offensive role on Thursday and make OB looking for cover. Twente are currently third in the Eredivise and that was helped with a 4-0 away win over Waaljwk so there will be goals in Odense stadium on Thursday for sure. That is if they bring their best players over to Denmark and most importantly players like M. Janko, who hit a hat trick last weekend, and W. Brama to join the aggressive 4-3-3 offensive formation. If not then they will have either John and Janssen to flank Janko in the middle and open up space for midfielders, De Jong or Landzaat to get on the score sheet.

Verdict: No matter what happens, this is a certain over 2.5 odds when it comes to goal scoring but if looking this objectively, it could be so intense that it end up with a draw, but seriously, who can deny the Twente of being favorites.

What a bad day for betting. I'm glad i went for Legia and Birmingham DNB, those were my saviors.
