Fulham twente

Thursday will see Fulham travel to Holland to take on Twente, the leaders of the Group and the battle for a top spot could heat up if both sides see the essential effect of being number one. Another battle for yet another british side is Stoke City taking on the Dynamo Kyiv at home.

Stoke City vs. Dynamo Kyiv

First season in Europe and Stoke City has shown their commitment in this competition. The seriousness of this competition is evident as the home side could guarantee a spot in the next round of the Europa League. A win will secure top spot while a draw will surely get them a guarantee second place. If manager Tony Pulis is to rest his key players in the Matchday 6 then he’ll have to put out a strong team, similar to the one he had in the weekend 3-1 win over Blackburn. Surely Cameron Jerome will get a run in while a few fringe players getting the nod.

The visitors need to pull their socks up if they want to make the last 32. Dynamo Kyiv are currently third in the Group E with 5 points and just one point away from 2nd place Besiktas with 6 points. The sad part is that that Dynamo Kyiv has only won one away game out of their last five European games. This is really mission impossible the Ukrainians but their domestic weekend game showed some promising feats. They beat local rivals Obolon Kyiv 1-0 with the winner from A. Yarmolenko and surely if this was repeated on Thusday, then Dynamo can look forward to play a part in Matchday 6.

Verdict: Last 32 for Stoke City and surely a draw will just do it.

FC Twente vs. Fulham

The battle for the top of Group K and Twente is already sure that they will make the last 32, so now winning the group will require a win or a draw at home on Thursday over Fulham. A defeat looks unlikely as Twente has only lost one game out of their 11 European home matches. With 12 goals on their account, Twente are likely to score but of course it all depends on what players will be playing on the night. The weekend 0-0 draw against Vitesse Arnhem at home surely doesn’t leave much to imagine what will happen this Thursday.

Fulham needs at least a point in Holland to make sure they can finish the job back at Craven Cottage. Manager Martin Jol will return back to his home country to seek a victory and having being one of the teams that has played the most Europe League fixtures, so fatigue isn’t an issue here, why, because Fulham hasn’t always put their strongest eleven out when it comes to this competition. If a draw is what Fulham is looking for then the weekend is a good testament for what they are looking for, a 1-1 away to Arsenal at the Emirates is a promising outlook for the midweek. Jol should take a strong eleven over to Holland and managed at least a point against Twente.

Verdict: A draw as Twente might not field their strong while Fulham needs that one point to secure a place in the last 32.
