Backing the Argentinean duo, both Aguero and Tevez are looking to find a way to keep Manchester City in the title race as they travel to Norwich on Saturday. Their result could impact Manchester United, who are home to Aston Villa, as anymore slip up will surely dissapoint Ferguson further in his legacy chase and Monday will see relegation strugglers face Arsenal at the Emirates.
Norwich City vs. Manchester City
The promoted Norfolk team has seen a lot of impressive results coming their way and namingly the away 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane on Easter Monday. Although, to many out there who has been tracking Norwich City’s progress, it’s not a surprising matter to see the canaries do so well, they did collect seven points in their last 5 games, which 3 of them were away games. They propelled them up to a 10th place in the Premiership and please to say that will surely avoid relegation. The promoted team have in the last four games scored at least one goal and their captain Grant Holt should take some credit for that. Norwich City are a bunch of organised men from front to back, giving great spirits and surely giving it a go against any teams that steps into Carrow Road.
Then there is 5 points from the top and with only 5 games left, Manchester City have only themselves to blame for not been able to match their local rivals, Manchester United at this stage. Obviously, their inconsistent form of the late has made them surrender the title charge due their poor away form, with the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, has left them in trouble with their Saudi owners. In the mist of all those bad results, manager Roberto Mancini has to deal with bad boy Mario Balotelli, who has yet again created the headlines of “why me?”. The answer to this could see the fiery striker departing City in the summer as his suspension could rattle up to 3. His absence is another one’s gain, his name is Carlos Tevez who took centre stage with Sergio Aguero in the 4-0 win at home against WBA. Their bounce back from the defeat against Arsenal has also given them the hope that there is a title to fight for. Mancini has brought back Carlos Tevez ,Nasri and David Silva just in good time for the title race and why Balotelli, well, he might just be the disturbance in the team.
Verdict:
Mancini needs a reaction and got one from his side, once again they have to go to Norwich and preserve any hope of the Premiership title. They are facing one tough encounter as Norwich City plays on the big man approach and that will be tricky. City will prove again that Balotelli might not be right for City by collecting another three points.
Manchester United vs. Aston Villa
The title is still in Manchester United’s favour as Sunday will see whether United can draw closer to the title depending on how City fares at Norwich. Although United are expected to do the business at home against Aston Villa. This United side haven’t been overly significantly to prove that they are a side that has plays with flair but hard work and determination have prevail. Their reward could be the 20th Premiership title but with the display against Wigan in the midweek suggest that they are just any teams in the Premiership. It could have been that they were 8 points away from their nearest rival and didn’t put the foot on the gas to keep that lead. They were kept quiet in front of goal against Wigan but surely Sir Alex Ferguson will make sure that they will bounce back on Sunday.
Aston Villa are struggling to get the wins that can get them away from the relegation battle. A draw at Anfield and also home draw against Stoke City have given the hope that survival is possible. They are currently six points off the relegation zone so they have win their last four games to secure yet another season in the Premiership. Manager Alex McLeish have injuries, strategy and confidence of his team to worry about, that is everything what a bottom team usually acquires setting themselves up for dangers. McLeish has been here before with Birmingham, but if his team doesn’t go down then that one bigger than last season. Villa looks to struggle and they always struggle away, apart from the draw against Liverpool.
Verdict:
Weakness in the United team is the set piece and most likely form a corner, De Gea is being pushed out so their experienced defenders need to shield him. The protection has to come from their midfielders and strikers, if they can attack Villa then they won’t need to worry about defending. Manchester United are favourites afterall.
Arsenal vs. Wigan
Monday Night Football, no it’s not American Football, but Premier League football that will see Arsenal trying to keep their qualification for next season’s champions league. With both of their nearest rivals, both London clubs, are in the FA Cup semi-finals duty, Arsenal are able to put further pressure on their rivals as three points will see them go 8 points ahead of them. Their midweek 3-0 win over soon-to-be relegated Wolverhampton, it was over after 11 minutes as Wolves saw red and Van Persie ending his four game drought with a penalty goal. The revival of Arsenal must be done to the good work of Arsene Wenger and his faith with his squad has seriously put them in a good position to finish the season off with a champions league spot next season.
Wigan finally got what they needed the most, three points and going above the relegation zone. Their impressive 1-0 win at home over defending champions, Manchester United, sees them go two points above Bolton but playing one more game than them. Never the less, the unlikely point was picked up in full and surely all plaudits has to go to manager Martinez, who has just got on with the job despite fears of losing his job. He’s face both Chelsea and Manchester United, got them playing good football, defending well but most importantly keep up the their opposition so facing Arsenal should have the same attitude. They were close against Chelsea, got all against Manchester United so will Wigan fight for the lives once again and surprise us all?
Verdict:
Keeping things tidy is what Arsenal would want to see on Monday. On the other hand, Wigan won’t care how they will get the point, as long as they do, they will do anything to achieve that. Arsenal looks strong of the late and when Van Persie starts scoring, you can’t really stop him.
