Manchester City vs. Newcastle

Both teams could been heading into the chWBAampions league next but for Manchester City, either as the Champions of England while Newcastle United needs that fourth place. Elsewhere Manchester United are facing Swansea City at home on Sunday while the relegation battle between Bolton aand WBA, while Monday evening will see Blackburn take on Wigan.

Newcastle vs. Manchester City

The goal difference between Newcastle and Tottenham is holding the key position for the champion league qualification next season. Both levelled at 65 points but Spurs dominated the goal difference with 14 goals setting the difference between them. If that isn’t a worry then the visit of the Premiership number 1 team could give a bit of a tough match this Sunday. The midweek saw Newcastle sink Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, virtually finishing an opposition for the fourth spot, and Papiss Cisse double wonder strikes prove that they are worthy for that reward. Manager Alan Pardew fell with his tactics against Wigan but got Newcastle back on track. He will be hoping that is a one off and looking at Newcastle performance against Chelsea, the Geordies have had the best run up to face Manchester City at St. James Park.

As straight forward as it can be, only a win counts or otherwise they might have to see how rivals, United do on the day. Destiny is in their hands after finishing over Manchester United in the local derby with a captain’s goal, Vincent Kompany, to seal the victory, doing the double over their neighbours. By that, they top the league and with two games to go, with a better goal difference, City are in the driving seat but also with the hardest schedule between the two Manchester, manger Roberto Mancini will need to think about his starting line up. He will definitely go with the Aguero and Tevez combo, while Gareth Barry has been outstanding in the defensive midfield which gives Yaya Toure the freedom to roam in the midfield. Ever since the Balotelli sending off, City hasn’t turned back and nor should they do when they visit up North.

Verdict:

Both teams are showing signs of greatness to come, Newcastle for their strikers always getting the service while City playing the part of being champions. This three points will be huge for either club to pick up and Manchester City can edge this if they keep Cisse quiet.

Manchester United vs. Swansea City

There isn’t much to say about this matchup, there is one outcome that many people would like to see. The home team needs these three points and desperately this will give them the chances to push the title chase to the final day of the Premiership. Swansea City have already done what they are set out to do and that is to survive their first ever season in the Premier league. They did better than that, as it seems likely they will finish mid-table with only their pride to taken further upon. Not many will believe in Swansea at Old Trafford as they have drawn consecutive games before heading over to Manchester on Sunday, 1-1 vs. Bolton and goal feast 4-4 against Wolves.

Verdict:

Short and sweet, anything but a win for Manchester United will end their season and maybe the title might have been cross over to the other side of the Manchester, United are not going to go out without a fight and neither will Swansea City on Sunday.

Bolton vs. West Bromwich Albion

This is punter’s heaven, the home side is fighting for survival and only a win will give the satisfaction for Bolton. It is all up to the players to prove how much they want to stay in the Premiership, it’s between them and QPR but Bolton with a poorer goal difference of being 7 behind. It was a bit closer before their 4-1 home defeat to Tottenham in the midweek. It wasn’t like Bolton didn’t have a chance, they had plenty but missed one after another.  Their chances are slim as their fate hangs on how QPR but if they win their own games then they can push it to the last day. Bolton will be counting on Kevin Davis to make sure that they stay up, his presence will be crucial but it is his goals that could keep them up.

Verdict:

Quick and short, Bolton are fighting for their lives and with Owen Coyles staring at a mission possible, they need two wins and two win with lots of goals. They can do that against WBA as they are without a manager and since they are safe, they could ease up.

Blackburn vs. Wigan

After all the games are played out on Saturday and Sunday in the Premier League, both relegation strugglers will face each other on Monday evening with a clear cut idea what they have to do. For Blackburn, a win will help them to keep alive until the final day of the season and maybe holding their fate within their own grasp. A win for Wigan will see them safe with 40 points and with their recent good form, Wigan are likely to prosper, defeat could lead to that Wigan will be dragged into the final day heartaches of relegations. All eyes will be on Blackburn to see themselves get out of this mess but it has been a turbulent  season for the Rovers at Ewood Park.

Verdict:

If the fans wanted Steve Kean out, then they could go down together this Monday. Wigan are on fire and they play like they are on the top half of the Premiership.  A draw could be on the card and that should be enough for Wigan to survive.
