The Liverpool fans was happy to see the back of former Roy Hodgson back in January but he is now back with West Brom and could haunt his former team for three points. Liverpool visits the midland club on Saturday, while Manchester United goes to East London to fight it with West Ham, on Sunday, Sunderland will travel to the blue half of Manchester to take on City.

West Ham vs. Manchester United

Focus is a good word for both teams that are at the opposite ends who are both desperate for the three points. The home team will gladly take the three points to give themselves a breather from the relegation battle while Manchester United wouldn’t want to lose ground to other title contenders with a slip in the earlier Saturday afternoon kickoff at 12:45BST.

The Hammers knows that three points is a must on Saturday if they want to survive the scrap at the foot of the Premiership. Manager Avram Grant might have being given a run about but now it is him doing all the talking on the field and also his men are responding to his outcry. A four match unbeaten run has certainly kicked off some hope and spirit in the West Ham squad with players like Obinna Ba and Thomas Hitzelberger finding their place in the Hammer’s starting line up. Hammer boss Grant will be hoping that his captain will return from a shoulder and calf injuries picked up when he was on international duties, striker Piquionne is also doubtful while Collison, Kurucz and Stanislas is definitely out.

Manchester United is suffering one of their biggest defeats last time they last played at Upton Park, the Red Devil were trashed 4-0 in the Carling Cup quarterfinal and a repeat of this would surely shatter their hopes of winning their 19th Premiership title. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson can’t afford any mistakes here and he will have to do with some key players like Anderson, Ferdinard, Fletcher, Hargreaves, O’Shea and Rafael also goal keeper Lindegaard all out with injuries. To add more salt to the wound, defender Johnny Evans and midfielder Paul Scholes are suspended, so finally to the good news, defender and captain Nemanja Vidic returns to the side in hope to marshal the back four. All hopes lies on Nani, Berbatov, Rooney and Berbatov to take on responsibility of the team and with the hope of Ryan Giggs performing well above average.

Beware of West Ham, they have scored 15 goals in their last six games in both in the league and cup games. The impressive stats also meant that they have only lost one of the last seven game in the Premiership also beating Liverpool at home. Manchester United away form has been poor with only four wins out of 15, and with a West Ham team on fire, Manchester United might pay with their long list injuries.

West Bromwich Albion vs. Liverpool

Former Liverpool manager, Roy Hodgson, will be looking forward to meet the team he departed with just a few months. Hodgson enter his Liverpool career when the team was in turmoil and his departure did cement a new Liverpool era while WBA hired Hodgson expertise to survive the premiership. The introduction of Hodgson has certainly improve West Brom chances in survival, undefeated in five teams and picking up 7 points out of five games has pulled them above the relegation line, also impressive drawn to teams like Arsenal, West Ham at home and beating Birmingham away. Their good run in form will give Liverpool a stern test but Hodgson will have to do without Elford-Alliy while Olsson is fit to return.

Liverpool is slowly progressing and a bit hopeful in fighting for a champions league spot at the top of the Premiership with Tottenham and Manchester City. A win is the only way forward and with Care-taker Kenny Daglish under helm, their last 2-0 away win, without Steven Gerrard, slows that there is much potential with the current Liverpool squad. The variation of play also showed at the Stadium of Lights, recording signing Andy Carroll showed glimpse of his worth, also scoring in the midweek international against Ghana, while striking partner, Luis Suarez is rising up to the challenge in writing himself in the great striker from the Reds. Clearly , the team Daglish inherited from Hodgson has turned them back to what they do best, winning.

WBA and Roy Hodgson might be fighting for survival but Hodgson might be fighting for his pride to get one over his former team. Daglish knows the desire of one of his past masters but clearly there is still work to be done with the team he has inherited. Carroll will give Liverpool the extra aerial space and option but it is still yet to be seen whether captain Steven Gerrard will return.

Manchester City vs. Sunderland

One of the two games on Sunday, Sunderland will travel to Manchester to face city with 16:00 BST kickoff time. City will entertain Sunderland but with a purpose, they are out of the Europa League and only two silverware to be won, but the Premiership might just be out of reach as they trail their city rivals, United, by 10 points, if that’s not bad enough a FA Cup semifinal clash next month is also scheduled against United at Wembley. This leaves a place for the champions league as the main goal, something that Manager Roberto Mancini and if he doesn’t want to get fired at the end of the season, then he needs all strikers to firing in all cylinders, Dzeko, Tevez and prank meister Balotelli, or better known as the player who can get put on his bib correctly, to do City the three points they need most. A high lift from their 2-0 away defeat to Chelsea is needed at the blue half of Manchester.

The Black cats needs to regroup from their home defeat a fortnight ago to Liverpool and nothing is better than seeing their striker Asamoah Gyan hitting the target in the 1-1 last minute equaliser against England in the midweek friendly. If that is not good news, then his countrymen John Mensah will be also featuring in Steve Bruce’s starting eleven after appleading for the red card he receive against Liverpool. Danny Welbeck also featured against Ghana so Sunderland should be more or less ready for action this weekend to change their fate.

A late winner from Darrent Bent made the difference between City and Sunderland, however, this time around, Bent has moved on and Gyan would certainly be more than happy to take that role on. Manchester City fell down to their knees after wasting chances after chances and without Micard Richards and Kolo Toure at the back, a reshuffle could be hamper the team for the three points.
