The winning moment could yet sparkle at Ewook Park with Blackburn needing the three points to save themselves while Manchester United need only one to win the Premier League on Saturday. Both Liverpool and Tottenham are fighting for the fifth place while on the same day, Wigan will face West Ham in search for a future in the Premiership.
Blackburn vs. Manchester United
Number 19 is knocking down on the Sir Alex Ferguson door and the trip to Ewood Park should cement that Premiership title with one point required. This early, 12:45BST, kick off will somehow be more of a celebration throughout the day for many Manchester United fans around the world as a draw is all what it takes to finish the season off.
The home side has their battle to fight for and they will be nervous due to their situation at the bottom half of the Premier League. The Rovers have 39 points with two games to go and if they were to pick up just another three points, then the coast will be clear. But first it is Manchester United at home and Wolves away on the final day. Coach Sean Kean will be without Grella, Nelsen and Rochina. On-loan striker Mame Biram Diouf is ineligible to play against his parent club therefore it would be vital to see defender Phil Jones, Michel Salgado and David Dunn being fit to fight for the three points required to keep them up.
This is the Manchester United that everybody has grown to love or hate over the last two decades. On Saturday they could surplus Liverpool’s record championship holder with the landmark of 19th titles held by one club and only one person, Sir Alex Ferugson doing it right after trophyless last season where they lost to Blackburn, losing the title race to Chelsea but just 13 months later, one point from another title and one champions league final spot. Ferguson will be happy to know that he doesn’t have much to worry about when it comes to injuries, only Hargreaves won’t be travelling to Blackburn while Evra and O’Shea are doubtful.
This is one for the fans, maybe not for Blackburn’s fans as they are selling their seats as United fans are desperate to see their heroes win their 19th. It shouldn’t be much of an issue to get a win so never mind a draw which will somehow suit both parties, well, Blackburn will be definitely happy with a draw.
Liverpool vs. Tottenham
Time to Maxi it out at Anfield on Sunday when hat trick hero Rodriguez takes on the pitch in a fight for a Europa League spot for next season against rival competitor, Tottenham Hotspurs. Everything is hanging onto this one game which both former Champion League participants are staring into the tunnel knowing only one will go forward into the Europe next season.
The feel good factor and confidence is oozing back in both players and fans in Liverpool. What a contrast it was just before the turn of the year where Liverpool, under Roy Hodgson, couldn’t even buy a goal to safe themselves, in a space of three games, Maxi Rodriguez, alone, scored 7 goals and gunning for a European place suddenly with just two more games to go. With that in mind, caretaker manger Kenny Daglish has been made permanent for 3 years, he will now be able to start thinking about the future for Liverpool, strengthen the squad is a must this summer for him and his staff. Daglish’s shrewd buy of Luis Suarez and a resurging Rodriguez might seen that Daglish have gone more Latino flair football than opting the Spanish inquisitions of the Benitez reign. Daglish’s comeback has already being a success by reviving the team but now an added bonus of European football next season is on the plate. Agger, Jovanovi, Aurelio, Kelly and Gerrard are unavailable, both Andy Carroll and Meireles are doubtful.
There has to be something left in this Tottenham Hotspurs team which started out great earlier in the season but seeing all that good work go to waste when the final hurdle comes. The north London team was forerunners for the champions league spot this season after clinching the last one and also making the quarterfinals, but that went all up in smokes with a 1-0 away defeat to Manchester City in the midweek. They now travel to Anfield on Sunday in hope to get the last available spot for European football next season but sadly it will be the second tier Europa League on offer. Manager Harry Redknapp is paying for their hectic schedule, with injuries to Assou-Ekotto , Huddlestone, Hutton, Palacios, Khumalo, Woodgate, Gallas and latest on the list, Gareth Bale might even not be ready for the pre-season. The
Two of the expected clubs to make the top 4 is out of the running and fighting for the scraps. After tasting the champions league, everybody wants a piece of and this year both won’t be having any of that so it will be a question who will finish in the league one position better than the other. A battle for the fifth place and Liverpool seems to have the momentum.
Wigan vs. West Ham
Sunday will be dooms days for either side that has a name that starts with “W” but if Wigan takes all three points then they can be potentially save themselves depending on other results. A defeat or draw for West Ham would surely send them down to the Championship. The home have both the spirits and the momentum to avoid the drop. Manager Roberto Martinez have claimed 10 points from their last 10 games and that might just move the goal post for them yet another week. Wigan will have both Mohamed Diame and Charles N’Zogbia on the doubtful list.
Things went from bad to worse last weekend when West Ham was only able to take one point in the 1-1 draw against Blackburn. Right after the draw, the chops was ringing around Upton Park and the owners were also quick to mention some players that might be leaving the club. However it all can change after one game with a win, a win that requires captain Scott Parker to be involved while several players like Ba, Charlton Cole and also Sears to perform. Manager Avram Grant will be without Dyer, Kurucz, Noble, O’Neil and Stanislas for the travel to Wigan but there is a need for every man to get on the offensive and scoring goals.
Last chance for West Ham, last chance for the squad to avoid the drop, last time they had Carlos Tevez but this time it is hard to see who will come forward to save them. Thomas HItzlsperger could be the answer but he remains like the rest, questionable for next season. Wigan or West Ham, the home side have the upper hand but they also need three points.

Hi Otto,
David is on holiday.
Yeah, you are right, the sunday games will be very close, even a red card or two in the west ham game, because the hammers are getting frustrated. Do you think West Ham will stay up? or Spurs to take the fifth place?
