Blackburn Wolves

Final Day in the Premiership is usually all about the top and the bottom, season 2010/11 will end with the major question of who will follow West Ham down to the Championsship. Blackburn travel to Wolverhampton to fight for survivial in Premiership against the Wolves, the trio in danger going down are Blackpool, Birmingham and Wigan

Aviod the Drop

Before we go into the final preview of the Premier League season, BettingExpert congratulates Manchester United winning their 19th Premiership title while the opposite end of the table will see two more teams being relegated along with West Ham. Four teams have the potential to go down and with the table looking like this, Blackburn 40 points, Wolves points, Birmingham 40 points, Blackpool 39 points and Wigan also at 39 points.

Stoke City vs. Wigan

A disappointing week for Stoke City and manager Tony Pulis,  they managed to lost twice to the same opponent in four days which saw Manchester City lifting the FA cup under their fingertips and then add salt to the wound, a 3-0 away defeat against to Manchester City. Their momentum and good form have since then gone down the drain so the last game of the season is a chance to say thanks to their fans, whether it is on a high remains to be seen. Pulis is certainly without Fuller, Sidbe and Higginhotham while in-form Jermaine Pennant and Robert Huth are doubtful along with Matthew Etherington.

Wigan gave themselves a week’s lifeline by sending West Ham down to the Championship by beating them 3-2 at home last weekend. They enter this game with the worst goal difference of all relegation strugglers so only a win could help them escape the drop. However bad the situation is, Wigan is playing good football of the late and thanks to Charles N’Zogbia hitting five goals in five games. He and Rodallega could keep that sprinkle chance they have to survive this last day frenzy. Manager Sanchez have no injuries worries and if they win their game against Stock, they will need a bit of help from Blackburn to beat Wolves and also a better win result over Blackpool and Birmingham with two or more goals will keep them up.

Manchester United vs. Blackpool

The Champion may or may not rest some of the key players for the Champions League final held next weekend. However a brief stint from the United key players will surely give a good sending off for their fans to salvage regardless what happen in Wembley. Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes, Anderson, Dimitar Berbatov and Patrice Evra will all start while goalie Edwin van der Sar will play his final match home at the Old Trafford as he retires after the champions league final. The only doubtful player is John O’Shea while Hargreaves is still out.

Blackpool’s first win since Feburary saw them beat Bolton 4-3 at home last weekend has given the some hope for manager Ian Holloway and his men pushing their luck until the final day of the fixture. Blackpool didn’t look like going down early in the season but the second half of the season saw them dropping points due to their lack of defending manner style. Explosive football for sure, offensive but hardly any defensive at time and when you play teams like Manchester United then they are sure to be punished. Expect a high scoring game and Blackpool won’t hold back if they fall behind. Holloway has no injuries worries and if he beats United then they will need a bit of help from Blackburn and Wolves not able to win their game and also Birmingham.

Tottenham vs. Birmingham

White Hart Lane might be disappointed over that there won’t be any Champions League football next season but maybe they can settle with the Europa League as a consolation prize. Manager Harry Redknapp will hope to finish the season at White Hart Lane with a high. He will be without Gallas, Bale, Khumalo and Woodgate while several doubtful players like Van Der Vaart, Gomes, King, Palacios, Pienaar and Huddlestone. Surely something has to give and not for the fifth place in the Premership.

Birmingham can save themselves by winning their game and hope that Blackburn and Wolves draw. Having said that, it is easier than it sounds and with Birmingham, since they won the League Cup, it has been all downhill for them. Birmingham have lost four of their last five games and conceding 13 goals, so going into this game with a 2-0 defeat at home to Fulham last weekend, things are looking very bad for manager Alex Leish. The Scots have a major issues when it comes to injuries, he will travel to London without Bentley, Dann, Martins, Hleb, McFadden, Taylor, Valles, Zigic and doubtful list comes to Bowyer, Jiranek and Paranby. Headache? Well, McLeish will get one when his team goes down on Sunday to the Championship.

Wolverhampton Wolves vs. Blackburn

In many words, this game is one of the key games which either team can put their fate in their own hands. Both Wolves and Blackburn are at 40 points and of course Wolves have the home advantage. Blackburn will have to be on their toes after watching Wolves beat Sunderland 3-1 at home last weekend. Both Dolye and Fletcher have been instrumental in trying to secure Wolves yet another season in the Premiership. Especially Flectcher who has hit five goals in the last three games, vital man for the Wolves. Manager Mick McCarthy will not be able to call on Edwards and Zubar while Doyle is doubtful.

Blackburn have a bit more work to do if they want to secure another season in the Premiership. They got that vital point against Manchester United last weekend with a 1-1 draw but that was just not enough, but enough for manager Steve Kean to celebrate it with a drink diving charge on the day. Although three points on the final day could see Kean go crazy if they stay up in his first ever season as a Premier League manager. He will be without Grella and Nelsen but hopefully Chris Samba, Junior Hoilett and Jermaine Jones could return after some niggling injuries. Whoever wins will  stay up and a draw could only save both of them if Birmingham, Blackpool or Wigan fails to win their games.

So who will go down? Birmingham does not look to be in a good position and Blackpool could be the other one following West Ham down into the Championship.
