The Swede is still on the three match ban but AC Milan is doing well without him in the Serie A. Both Brazilians Robinho and Pato are showing that they are able to sustain a lethal attack in which Brescia will surely feel on Saturday. All games are played on Saturday, bottom clubs Bari and Sampdoria will meet while mid table clash between Fiorentina and Cagliari is to be held
Brescia vs. AC Milan
The home side is living on the edge and to have AC Milan on the visit, Brescia could get themselves into some serious trouble if they can’t get the three points which they desperately need. The passion is still there but sitting second last in the Serie A with 30 points, things are not looking positive if they want to play in the top league next season. They are 2 points from their nearest rival, Sampdoria but 4 points from safety. This is a make it or break it game for them if Sampdoria is to get that precious three points which could put Brescia in much jeopardy for the club.
The league leaders have been busy this week, first a 3-0 win over Sampdoria in the weekend at the San Siro and followed up with a 2-2 draw against Palermo in the Coppa Italia. Both games were played with two different sets of players and with two different results, Milan will be more likely to concentrate on the Serie A. Their midweek draw saw a couple of familiar faces getting the run out, Cassano, Antonio, Pirlo, Oddo and Flamini getting the rare start. One particular individual might get a recall on Saturday would be Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the big Swedes also contributed with a goal and his prescence would also be important for the big push to further the ambition for the Scudetto.
Top against Bottom clash in the Serie A and Milan goes into this game as favorites. With or without Ibrahimovic, Milan will have a scaleable striking force that will do damage to Brescia’s hope of staying up in the Serie A. If all goes to plan, then Milan should be able to get this match done at the every first instance with a goal or two in the first half.
Bari – Sampdoria
Survival is the word used for both team but only really one of the two teams will have the chance to get that opportunity of surviving. Bari could well be the first team in the Serie A to be relegated as if they fail to win, it is mathematically impossible for them to stay on and of course, if Lecce goes win their match then the time is up too. Sitting firmly at the foot of the Serie A, Bari has already endured 24 weeks of the 33 weeks being played at the bottom. The campaign started with the hope of getting a place in Europe but unsurprising, a place in Serie B is on offer instead. The home team will need to find some kind of gut and glory in hope to please their home fans at the Stadio San Nicola. Salvatore Masiello, Vitaly Kutuzov, Paulo Barreto, Stefano Okaka and Jose Castillo are all unavailable.
Survival is very much in Sampdoria’s mind and with just 5 games to go, there is every chance for them to stay up despite not being able to pick up only a point in their last five games. Their 3-0 defeat to Milan last weekend also saw a former player, Cassano giving them a bit of kick whilst they are down. If that is consider down then more bad news is to come as dropped into the relegation zone for the first time this season. Despite being down there or the first time, coach Alberto Cacasin hopes that three wins out of the five remaining game will get them out of the sticky situation. He has a full squad to choose from and without Franco Semioli then there is every intention that Sampdoria will do a U-turn starting this Saturday.
The theme might be survival but only Sampdoria has a realistic chance to avoid this fate. Bari has been a bogus team for some, losing some, winning one or two in the last five games have give them an unpredictable Bari team. On the other hand, it doesn’t matter what Bari will turn up on Saturday, Sampdoria are desperate for the three points and they will have to get their best team out there to get that three points.
Cagliari vs. Fiorentina
Both mid-table teams does not have much to play for in the last five games upcoming games. Cagliari just about lead their opponent, Fiorentina by one point in the Serie A. Sitting ninth in the Serie A, Cagliari has done well in the last few games, winning against Genoa and drawing with both Lecce and Brescia, things are looking positive. The home team is looking to finish off the season on a high and of course on the expense of Fiorentina at this rate. Coach Robert Donadoni is expecting only striker Nene to be unavailable, otherwise he has full squad to choose from with Robert Acquafresca to lead the team at the front.
A disappointing season for Fiorentina which also saw their fan staged a protest after a 0-0 draw against rivals, Juventus. The words from the fans was simply to sack current coach, Sinisa Mihajlovic but then again he hasn’t being able to choose his best eleven for some time as the injury plague Fiorentina have suffered from. This weekend will see Mario Alberto Santana, Stevan Jovetic, Juan Manuel Vargas, Adrian Mutu and Alberto Gilardino all unavailable but Cesare Natali and Adem Ljajic could return to Viola side.
Sadly if Cagliari showed that kind of form earlier this season, might things be a bit different? Fiorentina can’t complain as injuries are always part of the game but they should be happy with things as they aren’t going to be relegated but neither will they be reward for their effort this season. Two teams playing out the season but it is Cagliari who has the upper hand here.
