Serie A 2011/2012

This year’s season is promising to be the most exciting for the past years. After a long stretch of Inter dominion Milan came back to life with the Ibrahimovic cure and cruised to the top. It will not be easy to confirm themselves though and this time it will not be their city rivals which will be creating the biggest troubles for them.
The Old Lady rose from the ashes of a disaster that had relegated the club to the punishment that was Serie B. The summer transfer campaign was a rich one for Juventus and with Conte at the helm the fans must feel that the success of the past should be just around the corner.
The Bianconeri may still be under construction though after the innumerable changes made to the first team, including a devotion to attack which may need reviewing in such a tough league as the Serie A. Mazzarri’s Napoli have a good number of seasons under their belt and after a shot at success last year they seem well geared up for mounting a series challenge for the title this time round.
For Inter it looks like the time has come for an overhaul and the decision to move on to grooming youngsters may need to be toned down a little if they want to keep up with the new wave of clubs aiming to replace them at the top. The likes of Lazio will be in the hunt after putting together an impressive first eleven inspiring stability all over the pitch.
When it comes to relegation it is teams like Lecce and newcomers Novara which are in pole position for the drop. They lack quality players but they have team spirit and know how to run for each other. They can survive only if other teams which are well equipped struggle to build that same kind of cohesion they have.

Fiorentina – Fans rocking the boat Many would say it has been a love – hate relationship between Mihajlovic and the Fiorentina fans. However, it has been mostly the latter. |

Club boss Preziosi is another of the long list of presidents not familiar with a Ferguson-style long term management relationship. His patience is limited. |

That one remarkable, inimitable relationship that helped them understand love but eventually, like all things perfect, came to a sudden end. |

Juventus – Zebras galloping out of hell After two consecutive seventh places and the Serie B nightmare Juventus will be leaving it up to Conte’s ambition and desire to inject a raw fighting spirit. |

Milan – Tactical confusion imminent One year on and Allegri has still failed to prove his alleged tactical genius with a team like Milan providing ample talent to modulate the formation. |

Twenty two years have gone by since Napoli’s last Scudetto. Twenty two. Just like Lavezzi’snumber, the player who bears the most resemblance to Maradona. |

Novara – Lacking experience and quality For the small club from the north of Italy the Serie A is a dream come true. Nobody expects them to survive this league but manager Tesser has already taken... |

It is no Schwarzenegger-like army we’re talking about but he still is out on a rampage to prove his worth after being discarded by Juventus. |

Beautiful to think about, but merely a dream nonetheless. Luis Enrique as a manager reflects his mannerisms as a player – instinctive, unpredictable, stubborn. |

Manager Sannino is one of the more outspoken managers in this year’s Italian championship. He is sure to gift some memorable moments to the audience. |

Memorable. Reaching the fourth place and having a go at the Champions League was an unexpected gift for last season’s Udinese. |
