Button vs Vettel

Two of the best car at the moment in the Formula One circuit, defending champion, Red Bull Sebastian Vettel is trying to fend off both McLarens Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton, who both have register a podium finish at the top besides Vettel who has won five out of seven races.

2011 Formula Grand Prix of Europe (Valencia)

The challenge must be on championship leader, Sebastian Vettel, to find some kind of response after the last lap choke at Montreal which virtually gave rivals McLaren Jensen Button the podium finish, his first this season. They head back to Europe, to Valencia to test their cars once again from the 24th of June while race day is on the 26th of June.

The Spanish or Europe circuit has 57 laps where the circuit length is 5.419 km. The Race Distance is 308.883 km which Timo Glock in 2009 set the fast lap record with 1:38.683 but it is Red Bull Sebastian Vettel who won this race back in 2010.

Final Lap

Year after year, Formula One was based on what happened in the first lap of the race which somehow made it predictable when pole position was achieved. However that does seem like a distance memory, the first lap have no more baring to the race and race leaders are rare having the driving seat to victory. Even with a sixth pole position for Sebastian Vettel, he managed for the first time this season to buckle under pressure in the last lap to the flying Brit, Jensen Button, after enduring six pit stop changes, one penalty, two incidents and what more, a win for himself which takes him second in the championship just 61 points after Vettel.

Third in standing is Mark Webber who also finished third in Montreal after starting with an incident with McLarens Lewis Hamilton, who went out crashing into Button, but show character to get back to the top. Finishing just outside of podium is Michael Schumacher and much of his good luck came from strategy and the rain in Canada. His car showed weakness against both Red Bull and McLaren, the Mercedes were no match to their rivals when it came to speed and pace, what was worse is that Schumacher is a well experience defensive driver and even was exposed time after time as his rear wing failed him. Schumacher finding his form, well let’s see what happens in Valencia and maybe Montreal could have been his best result.

Angry Alonso paints the picture for himself, arrogantly tried to overtake Button on a wet circuit only landed himself in trouble. So much trouble, like Hamilton, they both scored no points in Montreal, blow to the title race.

Moving on

The Red Bull is rumoured to poach Lewis Hamilton after getting good reputation of having the fastest car in the circuit. Imagine, Hamilton rampaging throughout the world in a Red Bull, well Hamilton has mooted this move and keeping his place with the fastest and consistent McLaren car when during race day. Teammate Button is posed to also stay with McLaren despite interest from rival teams. Also moving on is that Bahrain is to be move out of the F1 calendar so much disappointment to both McLaren and Ferrari trailing the Red Bull in the league table.

Prediction

In a space of a week, the mood has changed in the McLaren garage and it all ends positive despite crashing into each other. Character has shown the colours and the true colour is that the reigning champion, Vettel is also prone to mistake and with pressure, he could be caught up. With that in mind, there is no doubt that the Red Bull will be on pole position so looking at the race itself then the momentum is with the McLaren but Red Bull will be back with strengthen to perfect the tyre strategy.
