It is evidently obvious that both Lewis Hamilton and Sebiastien Vettel will be battling it out for the number spot in the F1 circuit but of course Vettel has the better start of the two with 4 wins out of five. Monaco will re-ignite the flames again and Hamilton will make no mistake that he intends to win.
Monaco Grand Prix 2011
Monte Carlo will host the sixth race of the season with fame and prestige amongst the sidelines this coming weekend. Monaco will see the transformation of their streets into one of the oldest city circuits for the world fastest cars to challenge themselves from 26th May to race on day on the 29th May. The Monaco streets are ready for the Red Bulls and McLarens to compete against each other once again.
The race circuit is 3.340km with the race distance at 260.520km. All drivers’ will need to complete 78 laps to be crowned as champion of the circuit and Michael Schumacher’s hold the record of the lap time of 1:14.439 still stands since 2004. Australian Mark Webber won this race back in 2010 in the Red Bull car.
Extending the Gap
Apart from Sebiastien Vettel high flying winning mode after securing his fourth GP out of five, it is Ferrari who is grabbing the headlines in which former F1 champion, Fernando Alonso is not able to compete with the Red Bulls and McLarens. Ferrari has lost trust in their technical director, Aldo Costa and a reshuffling of the staff is well under way as we speak. So in case you are wondering how Ferrari will do in Monaco then in Alonso’s words, “it is difficult” should describe the team’s chance this year in capturing the major titles.
Talking about titles, the Red Bulls are steaming ahead, in particular Vettel. He finally managed to give the pole position to teammate Mark Webber, but both of them failed to lead in the first lap in Barcelona. With pace and overtake abilities, Vettel was pushed at the end by McLarens Lewis Hamilton but it goes to show that anything can happen with tyres, pit stop, overtakes and strategy. It’s all fun and games as Vettel knows that Hamilton is strong in the final stages, he know Monaco will not be an easy bleeze as the young Brit has won there before.
Hamilton must be happy to see that the Monaco GP is coming so quickly just being pipped out of a top spot in Barcelona. Interestingly, until Barcelona, Hamilton hasn’t been able to come up with a competitive car to answer Red Bull dominance. Of course, the win in China did give some hope but it was down to strategy not the sheer power of the McLarens’s car. If we look closely in what is matching up the two cars, we could blame it on the tyres and KERS. The Red Bull is seeing no effect from the KERS and using the hot blown diffuser is more effective. For the McLarens, they are jumping up and down with the tyres in which can get you up the pace to beat the Red Bull. But surely it is the DRS that is helping the McLarens during race day but not qualifying, it is one thing that the Red Bulls are afraid when a McLaren car is behind their tail.
The Rest
Not much is happening with the rest of the drivers, the Mercedes are still lacking in pace and Michael Schumacher has pledge that he will continue to race, well for now. Renault aren’t doing much better and the Sauber-Ferrari are still in the middle stint. What really is surprising is to see Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock still struggling at the back, both of them are not finding any happy racing for the time being.
Finishing
The race between Hamilton and Vettel might just be heating up. The McLarens are finding their best to improve their strengths to bridge that gap Vettel is building every race that goes by. Hamilton should be able to show what he is made of at Monaco as a previous winner here, this circuit is one that he yearns to win, prestige, maybe? Although, it is the Red Bulls who will be amongst the pole position, either Webber or Vettel, but no matter which Red Bull car is in pole, Vettel seems to be able to find a way to win, but that needs to stop and Lewis Hamilton for Monaco might just be the start of big things in him in 2011.
