Blinds can lead to revival in Inler's fortunes

racing preview

A quiet day is lit up at Salisbury this afternoon by the 4.30 Bathwick Tyres Free Admission Raceday Conditions Stakes over 6f, where Inler is worth a each way investment at around 5-1.

Brian Meehan's 4-y-o has yet to win this season but has shaped with encouragement on several occasions. He has been gelded since last seen 42 days ago, and connections reach for first-time blinkers which will hopefully have a positive effect. Crucially Richard Hughes is in the plate and he can finesse this strong travelling type to victory.

Godolphin have had a resurgence this Autumn and enter the morning 5-2 favourite in Ecliptic. The lightly raced 3-y-o competed at the highest level when last seen in 2010, and is sure to be a major factor in this if fit after 15 months on the sidelines. That absence does suggest training problems and the percentage call is to side with racefit Inler.

Mabait is another classy performer returning here after 8 months on the sidelines. He won decent races at Sandown and Pontefract in 2010 but failed to shine in Meydaan when last seen. From a powerful yard he is entitled to respect and any cash later on would be very significant.

Best of the bigger priced runners may be Mon Cadeaux. Although unable to get involved at the sharp Warwick course last time, Andrew Balding's classy type had shaped well previously and could go well with fitness doubts about his principal rivals.

In summary, Inler has everything in place this afternoon for a bold show and hopefully Richard Hughes may seize the initiative and try to make all the running against the far rail, with blinds sure to fire up his mount.
