Hell's Bay can return to form in Exeter feature

Hell's Bay has struggled to recapture his top form in three starts this season, but he can return to his best to land Exeter's Betfair Graduation Chase at 3.35.
Colin Tizzard's 10-y-o has been an expensive failure every time this season, with errors at crucial stages sapping his finishing effort in the straight. He did travel noticeably well on his latest start and is hopefully now primed to recapture the best of his form of 2010/11. This small field over the easy Haldon fences seems an ideal combination and he can outclass his rivals under regular rider Jo Tizzard.
Frontrunner Teafortheee appears the main danger for the in-form Rebecca Curtis stable. He was a fair winning hurdler who has progressed well over fences, making all and impressing with his fluent fencing in a 3m Chepstow novice in December. Last time he got hassled for the lead and went off far too hard in a hot Grade 1, and could easilly bounce back in these relatively calmer waters.
Royal Charm represents the champion trainer and has a superb record round here (four wins from five starts). However, he has failed to shine in three starts this season with few excuses and wouldn't be the first ex-French "star" who failed to progress with racing on these shores.
Halley is a grade one winner in France who is reunited with his winning rider David Cottin for the first time since joining Tom George. He went with a lot more zest over 2m5f last time out, but finished very tired in a remote second in the deep ground and is not sure to come on for that gruelling experience.
Crescent Island appears well held, coming here after two poor efforts and his stable form dipping as usual in these months of the season.
In summary, a high class contest that lights up a quality Sunday card. All of these have questions to answer, but Hell's Bay has showed promise in all three runs since returning from injury. He can get into a decent rhythm today and is must bet material at around 13-2 this morning.
