Paul Nicholls continues in fantastic form, and his progressive Violin Davis is confidently expected to land this afternoon's featured Listed hurdle at 1.30.
The tough 5-y-o progressed well last season, landing a Wincanton novice in March and stepped up further when placed in good handicaps after. She made another step forward when a very ready winner on her reappearance in a warm contest and still seems on the upgrade. Ruby Walsh travels over from Ireland on a Monday for this £15,500 prize, which is a huge clue in itself, and she will be very hard to beat on the forecast good ground.
Main danger comes from Whoops A Daisy, who created a good impression when winning her first three hurdles starts up to 2½m before shaping as if amiss at Newbury in March. She returned to action recently with a good second over an inadequate trip, and will relish this step upto 3m here.
Combustible Lady is in red hot form having sprinted to two handicap wins impressively in the past month, but there is a huge gulf in class between those speed test minor events and this Listed prize. Although she merits respect her stamina reserves may not last out up the long Sunbury straight.
Elyaadi ventures over to England after a creditable third last time but is another with huge doubts about the trip, while Cloudy Spirit seemed badly out of form when well held on her flat debut recently.
In summary, a quality contest that lights up a run of the mill Monday card, provides the prolific mare Violin Davis an excellent chance to outstay some useful rivals. At around 2-1 this morning she is well worth a decent win investment.
