Colin Tizzard's reliable Grand Vision is selected to land Huntingdon's featured Epds Supports Racing Welfare Handicap Hurdle at 3.00 this afternoon.
The 6-y-o has been placed in some decent novice hurdles in three attempts and now switches to handicaps off a very feasible rating. At Hereford last time he did nothing wrong against some above-average prospects and it's just a matter of time before he wins himself, particularly as things didn't go all his way, clear with the winner from two out in the testing ground and rallying when squeezed for room inside the last furlong. That form appears useful and he meets some more exposed rivals here.
Main danger appears to be the versatile Dusky Bob. He has had a busy time of it lately, winning both over hurdles and fences, responding bravely to pressure each time, and will relish a slog in the mud. Last time at Ascot he was beaten a long way out however, and perhaps he has had enough hard races in a short space of time and may need a rest.
Tribal Dance is another that has been in winning form this winter, landing handicaps at Fontwell and Huntingdon, but he was well held last time and is now in the assesors grip.
Sainglend has shaped well in maiden hurdles and has the useful claimer Brendan Powell jnr in the saddle, however lumping 11-12 in this deep ground will not be easy, while the ex-chaser Knight Legend may prefer faster conditions.
In summary, a very tight handicap but an excellent chance for the unexposed Grand Vision to get off the mark over hurdles. At around 7-4 this morning he is worth a win investment under regular rider Joe Tizzard.
