racing preview

Misstree Dancer shaped well on her seasonal debut and has an excellent chance at the weights to land this afternoon's Ffos Las feature at 2.20.

The 7-y-o quickly bettered her fair hurdling form over fences last season, winning a decent Newbury handicap on soft ground and has been given a real chance by the assessor after shaping as though badly in need of her seasonal debut last month.

This £8700 handicap has a wide open feel to it, with perhaps bottom-weight Red Rouble appealing as the principal danger. His stable remains in good form, and he has been placed each time he's completed over fences, running a fine race when a clear second in a course and distance handicap off this current mark 22 days ago.

As de Fer was much improved going chasing last term, landing a couple of handicaps at up to 2m5f. However he was nothing like so fluent when last seen in March and has often shaped as if todays 3m trip stretched his stamina reserves.

Phardessa has won several of these contests in the past and was not disgraced first time out when racing too freely, however her yard has gone over three months without a winner and she may need another run or two, while Minella Boys has failed to complete on his three most recent starts and appears badly out of sorts despite his rating starting to fall.

In summary, a very tight handicap in the soft ground, but a great chance for Misstree Dancer to defeat some more exposed rivals under the useful 3lb claimer Ryan Mahon. At around 5-1 this morning she is worth an each-way interest to outstay her rivals up the straight.
