Dr Richard Newland's yard has been in great form in the past few days, and his Night Alliance can land the Lindley Group Events Caterers Novices' Handicap Chase at Ffos Las this afternoon.
The ex-Irish performer made successful chasing bow at Cheltenham last month, impressing with the way he jumped and travelled to land a well contested handicap. He then ran poorly at Newbury next time, but can bounce back if return of blinkers have desired effect in this lesser race.
Gentle Bob was a fair maiden hurdler in 2010/11, and ran his best race to date over fences when a close fifth (despite minor mistakes) at Exeter (3m) on New Year's Day. He is capable of better if his novicey jumping improves and appears the main danger, despite his stable remaining largely in the doldrums.
Topweight American Cricket has won both completed starts since joining this yard back from a lengthy absence, the latest in a selling hurdle at Leicester earlier this month. Much more is required here to defy topweight on his chasing debut, where he appears very poorly treated on the balance of recent form.
Bring 0n the Judge will relish this heavy ground, with both his careers victories coming when conditions have been bottomless. He was holding a narrow lead when falling three out in Haydock handicap chase last month and will be a danger to all with a clear round of jumping.
0tter Mist hails from a small stable in blistering form and he has hinted at better to come with a series of mid-division runs in novice company. He switches to the larger obstacles here and it is worth noting any betting moves nearer the off to see if his shrewd connections have him readied.
In summary, a trappy handicap for the £6000 prize money, but a great chance for Night Alliance to resume winning ways. The first time blinds can help him find fluency and at around 4-1 this morning he is worth a small win investment under the promising 3lb claimer Charlie Huxley.
