Sir Winston primed for winning reappearance

racing preview

Victor Dartnall has been in blistering form since the start of the season, and his reliable Sir Winston is a confident choice to land Fontwell's feature at 3.10

The 9-y-o ran with credit in all five appearances last term, and returns after a ten month absence in a very winnable handicap. The overnight rain has eased the ground and very testing conditions will be ideal for the stamina laden stayer. Promising rider Andrew Glassonbury is in the saddle and he will soon be handy on our choice, who is a fluent jumper and strong traveller at this level of combat.

Topweight Oncle Kid shapes as the main danger. He returned to form over course and distance last time out, travelling strongly throughout and flooring a gamble on Delganny Gunner in the straight, the pair miles clear. That was a steady run, small field contest however and the handicapper has had his say as a result, and lumping 11-12 in this deep ground may prove beyond him.

Reymysterio was denied on the post last time out by our nap of the day Hunt Ball, and does seem to be improving now his jumping problems have been ironed out. That run came on fast ground however, when he was able to get a relatively soft lead, and these will be very different conditions.

Bring It 0n Home hails from a yard in flying form, and has a great chance at the weights if translating his decent form from hurdles to the larger obstacles. He has not been seen at the course for over a year and may just need a few runs to reach optimum fitness, while Billy Murphy has shaped will scant promise in two runs so far this season, traling home a well beaten third last time.

In summary a great chance for Sir Winston to end a losing run stretching to Taunton in November 2009. At around 4-1 this morning he is worth a decent win investment to outstay his rivals on ground that will ride a good deal slower than many may prefer.
