Fallen Can Continue Gosden's Golden Autumn

fallen for you

Newmarket stages an excellent card this afternoon with an expected £2.5 million Tote Jackpot adding excitement to a traditionally high class day.

The days feature is the Group 1 Shadwelll Fillies Mile at 3.00, and John Gosdens progressive Fallen For You is a confident selection with the stable in excellent form.

Despite obvious greeness on her debut here, she readily landed a warm maiden and appeared a most unfortunate loser of the May Hill at Doncaster 14 days ago. Forced to race alone on the wide outside and possibly a few lengths out of her ground, she closed up impressively to press at the furlong pole only to be rather intimidated by the winner edging right in front of her. Granted a smoother passage today she can reverse the placings with Lyric of Light.

Mahmood Al Zarooni is another yard banging in the winners, (three at Goodwood on Wednesday), and his classy filly is currently 15-8f to stay unbeaten. However Lyric of Light was relatively unfancied prior to the May Hill and certainly enjoyed the run of the race that day. At around 5-2 this morning Fallen for You is much preferred.

A bigger danger may come in the form of Roger Varian's Firdaws. This well regarded type overcame a bad draw to land some hefty wagers at Salisbury and is much better than the bare form of that maiden win. The step upto a mile is sure to suit and she represents a different line of form to the principals in the betting.

Hopefully William Buick can lay up handier today and sweep to the front close home, enhancing the fillies claims to 0aks glory in 2012.
