The November Cheltenham meeting is always an exciting time for national hunt enthusiasts, and the first big handicap chase can fall to Havingotascoobydo.
Martin Keighley has made an excellent start to the season with his relatively small string, and his novice 6-y-o has appeared a superb prospect in winning two of his three chases so far. He is pitched into this very warm handicap off a seemingly lenient rating and must go close if getting into a rhythm early on with his fencing.
Alain Cawley is on board again after comfortably landing a decent novice at Wetherby last time, and he will drop the smooth traveller out in rear initially before storming through up the hill after the last.
Dangers abound with £40000 in prize money, with perhaps Crack Away Jack the most interesting runner. He lost his way badly last season but has since joined the champion trainer Paul Nicholls, and if he can recapture the top class form he showed as a novice hurdler he must go very close with Ruby Walsh travelling over from Ireland for the ride. Any cash nearer the off will be a massive clue that he is on-song again and a big run is expected.
I'msingingtheblues has a good record in big handicaps at this course and will be popular after a five month absence, however he has no secrets from the assesor and has to give lumps of weight away to some younger, less exposed rivals.
Irish raider Mahrajaan won readily last time out but that was on soft ground but there has been very little rain at Prestbury in the past few months, and with a fast surface not sure to suit, he is best opposed.
In summary a fascinating wide open handicap, but our choice might just be very well in, and can further enhance his yard's rapidly growing reputation. At around 8-1 he is worth an each-way investement this morning with the layers betting 1/4 the odds 1,2,3,4.
