racing preview

Ezra Church created a deep impression when winning over course and distance last time and land the featured Play Roulette at Bluesq.com/casino Handicap at 4.40.

The 5-y-o hails from a yard suddenly in excellent form after an unusually quiet winter, with a valuable win in Meydaan with Hitchens a highlight, and he fairly routed a decent field here eight days ago. The manner of victory was all the more impressive as he was hassled at an overly fast pace for the early lead before readily drawing clear early in the straight. He does sometimes hint at not being straightforward (hangs left off the bridle), but will be extremely hard to catch if in the same form this afternoon.

Main danger for the £3500 prize money comes in the shape of Prince of Vasa. He responded to a first time visor when winning over six furlongs here ten days ago, readily landing a bit of a touch, and has form over this trip in the past. The handicapper has made life tougher however, and it remains to be seen whether the headgear has the same effect twice.

Myboyalfie ended last season with a victory in deep ground at Chepstow. He has been off five months since but has only had eight career starts and is open to progression on the all-weather. The betting will guide as to what is expected fitness wise, but it is difficult to see him beating our in-form selection.

Meia Noite has joined a small yard going well with limited resources and has crept into this handicap with a flyweight. The 5-y-o is a maiden who ran well in polytrack handicaps on a couple of occasions in 2011, and has headgear applied for this fibresand debut. Again any cash later on would be a clue that new connections have him primed.

Mazovian is a consistent type who is often placed but rarely wins and appears firmly in the grip of the handicapper, while Dickie Le Davoir regularly fluffs his chance at the stalls and was well held on Wednesday.

In summary, a gilt edged chance for Ezra Church to win again. There are no obvious conteners for the lead and he can assume command from the off under Dean Heslop. At around 1-1 this morning he is worth a strong win investment.
