Jukebox Melody was second last time out in a race that has proved usefu form and he is selected to land the Power, Distribution and Control Ltd Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen this afternoon.
The 6-y-o is a dual bumper/hurdles winner and turned in a much improved effort when finishing strongly into second over 2m1f here on his debut for this new red hot yard last month. He seems sure to relish the step up half a mile in trip and has sound claims with pilot James Reveley one of the up-and-coming stars of the weighing room.
Thanks For Coming is the morning favourite based on a fine effort when edging out a stable companion to make a winning reappearance at Sandown (2m) in December. This longer trip shouldn't pose any problems although the handicapper has made life a lot harder with a 9 lb rise.
Dineur had made gradual progress when winning twice over shorter in 2011, his latest victory being at Wincanton in December, and he was not disgraced when fourth at Kempton last time. He is likely to be in the mix if staying this far (upped 5f in trip, which has to be a concern given his freegoing run-style).
Andhaar hails from a yard that has a prolific record at this venue. He has taken a few runs to get into full swing this season, but there was nothing wrong with a third over 2m1f off this mark here on Boxing Day and he is another to enter calculations.
Frontier Dancer had been revitalised for this yard when scoring at Ffos Las (3m) in November, and was back at that level when second in a tongue tie at Kempton last month. However a further 7 lb rise doesn't make life any easier and others lower in the weights appeal more.
In summary, a tight handicap for the £9000 prize money but a great chance for Jukebox Melody to get into the winners enclosure for new connections. At around 6-1 this morning he is a decent each-way proposition to swoop late and fast in the straight.
