racing preview

Venetia Williams has been in blistering form since the start of the new year, and her Niceonefrankie can land the Revelstoke Wine Company Handicap Chase at 3.10

The 6-y-o improved at the second attempt over fences when winning a well contested Hereford handicap last time out, and appears very well treated in this lesser event this afternoon. He will relish the forecast eased ground and seems sure to be hard to beat under regualar rider Aidan Coleman.

Main danger for the £4700 prize money comes in the form of Victor Dartnall's veteran Magot de Grugy. The 12-y-o made an impressive seasonal debut at Fontwell when heavily supported, but has been let down twice since by jumping errors at crucial stages. He remains on a winnable rating but will need a very clean round of fencing to trouble our selection.

Launde is a bold frontrunner when fully wound up and is respected if attracting any cash in the betting later on. He has been absent from the action for 283 days however, and usually needs a few runs to reach optimum fitness.

Bottomweight Alldunnandusted may appeal to those hunting bigger prices. He hasn't made much impact recently, but his small yard is suddenly in the winners after a very quiet 2011, and he is getting lumps of weight from some more exposed rivals.

In summary, a trappy handicap sure to be run at a decent pace with Launde in the field, but an ideal opportuinity for Niceonefrankie to follow-up. At around 5-4 this morning he is worth a substancial win investment to swoop late on in the straight.
